My dad was a huge Sinatra fan. This was his favorite tune. As a teenager in the 80's, I thought, Sinatra, whatever. Now that I'm older, the old man was right. Sinatra is the man. Rest in peace dad. You did it your way. Love you forever 😇

It is such an uplifting song. Especially if you have lived through hard times, and preserved. I did not expect to have goosebumps reading the text now. Almost in thankful tears (to Sinatra, to myself for surviving, to everyone who has helped me through the hard times and is still helping, and - to the person who has made this video with lyrics. Thank you).

12:30 February 1st 2021 I sit at the bedside of my great grandfather holding his hand (my father figure) we listened to this song, I cried. His breathing was belated, he didn’t talk he was just still. I sat with him for 3 hours straight, then I went downstairs for a bit. My mom told me to go tell him I loved him, I walked upstairs and put my arms around him and hugged him told him I loved him, he hadn’t spoke in 2 days he opened his eyes a bit an mumbled “I love you” I left his room and went home. I cried the whole way home knowing that would be the last time I saw him. 12:10 am February 2nd he passed away. I miss him so much. And I will never forget him, because he lived his life and did it his way.

For me it's my life's reflection upon retiring after a 44 year career. Turned the page on a new chartered course ahead. So much meaning that truly resonates with each line and lyric about one's life. Mr. Sinatra was an amazing talent. When my time does come I can't think of any better song that sums it up in such a wonderful way. Thanks to Paul Anka for his inspiration in writing his song in 1968 and for Frank Sinatra making it his smash hit in 1969. It's meaning will always remain timeless for future generations to appreciate their own life stories of reflection and accomplishments while traveling each and every highway along their journey.
Great music will always reach out and touch one's soul. 🎶
Take a look at Andre' Rieu's full orchestral video from 2012 at Radio City Music Hall.
    You will be blown away.

Folks, this song came on at my dad's funeral years ago, and it was the best way to understand his death. I didn't know I'd need this same song years later with my Auntie! I'm so grateful they got to live their life the way they wanted... regardless if the decisions they made ultimately led to their untimely demise. THEY STILL LIVED THEIR LIFE, THEIR WAY! And thank you for being here, and showing us how to love, cause although substances may have been abused, they are the highest misunderstood and the hardest to love! Maybe the substance was a way to cope with the love they gave, that often was misinterpreted. They did the best they could, considering Narcissism, Toxicity and all!
The had no road map, no gps on how to be THEE best dad, aunt, mother, man, woman, son, dauther, (you add why you're here, HERE), and realize at the end of the day, they, we all (hopefully) are essentially doing it OUR OWN way!!!

And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
    I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
    I did it my way
    [Verse 2]
    Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption
    I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this
    I did it my way
    [Verse 3]
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all, and I stood tall
    And did it my way
    [Verse 4]
I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing
    And now, as tears subside
I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way
Oh, no, oh, no, not me
    I did it my way
    [Verse 5]
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows
    And did it my way
    Yes, it was my way

Most importantly don't let it build up, let your grief out it's natural to do so, you'll get through this and be able to share all those cherished memories you have of her to many people in your life so she may not be here physically anymore, but in your heart well she'll always be there.
