- Part 4 of a 5 part series on essential elements of TCG design. Have you ever wanted to design your own tcg? You're far from alone, and this series will go into the elements needed to make this game genre function. This video examines effect-based interaction - which is interaction where what's written on the cards tells you what to do.
I tried a couple of simple video effects to add a bit more motion. Let me know if they're overly distracting!
I have been loving these short informative videos, they're really helping me during the development of my own ECG. Keep em coming!
That's awesome you're making your own game! I'm glad you're finding these videos useful.
How do you feel on cards that have effects that make them unaffected by the opponents cards and effects. Also would stun decks be an unhonorable mention to the 3. They go far and above what control does in locking opposing or both players out of key aspects of the game to win by deck out or time
I think 'unaffected' is fine in small quantities - but too many can definitely cause problems (or is a symptom of a bigger problem, like too much efficient removal). Prison decks are painful, but stun decks are generally fine (assuming stun is a series of one-turn lock effects), but again, too much can cause problems in the meta. Basically, both are best as a smaller percentage of the meta.
Why does Risu shows up if you ain't making Nut jokes my dude? Disappointed.
I was looking through my image folders looking for whoever I had a ton of different expressions for - turned out to be Risu. Nuts aside, she's just very expressive. Although if I ever have any Stun Seed related puns, she'll be there for those too.
Love the evolution of your vids. Keep at it bro!
