I’m an officer/medic. I also teach EMT and medic. It’s amazing how little even the medic course prepares civilian conventional EMS on trauma subjects. Never in my courses I went through did I hear the words “blood sweep”, I was never actually shown how to pack wounds, pressure dressing techniques, create a chest seal (before Hyfins), secure flail segments, the list goes on. I make sure to hit these points hard and actually demonstrate. Also the assessment process currently taught by national registry is too confusing, and I found a way to teach the assessment in a simple and easy to remember way, that works on the street and will pass the registry. Content like this is what even EMTs and Medics don’t get so thank you for putting it out there.
I really appreciate the time you put into educating us. I have learned quite a bit. As far as improving your production quality, you should find the setting on your camera to turn on/off mirroring. The text on your video is backwards...
I noticed you had a HSG Reflex IFAK on your old battle belt. I have been looking at that IFAK for a while now, but I haven't seen many reviews on it yet. I'm trying to split the line of having more gear than the standard small of the back IFAK without having too much bulk and it seems like the best option.
it straddles both worlds pretty well if you use a flat fold ETD and don't overstuff it, it stays very thin. The Coyote tactical solutio9ns burrito is also very slim but has the issue that all the gear is just in an ALOK sac. So when you pull it out you still have to dig through it. The Reflex has an excellent tray that keeps the gear organized and you can pull it from either side, i have been very impressed by the kit. Slimmest has to go to the Live the Creed Responder IFAK which I have done a video on. You pretty much have to run it the way they set it up though which is a pitfall because I like to have extra compressed gauze, since it's one of the most used items.
Please don't cut yourself to use your blood for lubrication! LOL, as always great video, thanks uncle, speaking of signs I think the "do not stop on railroad tracks" signs should be taken down, you know, thin the herd out a little bit!! Thanks again !!

Yeah I'm getting a new camera I've been shooting everything on my phone
It's crazy how little people think about medical training. They usually just like watching videos on how to make the wound, but not stop the bleed. 👍🏽
