My favorite was a brand new 1978 Mack cabover, it was a Ryder truck rental, I was between trucks. I was going back west from NYC going across New Mexico and out of nowhere a portable sound check inspection, something like that, he said he was checking sound levels of trucks and wanted to check mine I said ok, we did the acceleration test and he couldn't believe how quiet the truck was and asked me if it was quiet I said the quietest truck I've ever driven. The Mack rode good and very quiet even compared to the new 1978 White Road Commanded that replaced it when I got back. Before both of these was a 300 thousand mile International Trans Star ll that was a good truck, I got mixed up leaving the truck stop in Wyoming and got on the on-ramp to I-25 north, I needed to go 80 east to New York City, I whipped a u-turn right there with a 42 !/2 foot Great Dane reefer trailer, did even have to back up twice like trying to get into the produce dock at Huntz Point produce markets.
