      The electrical problems were not fully resolved before leaving port. 4 generators all failed. Why?
      Two escort tugboats were summoned while in channel but pulled away before reaching open sea. Why? 8 innocent men died. Why? 31 days no answers. Why?

    Still wondering why there was fire or flares fired at the joints that broke aswell as. Modern ships can still steer during power malfunction. And the ship seemingly steered into the bridge. My guess. It's a distraction.

      ​@@1972Ray9 years old..like anything it must be maintained properly. I was told it was inspected by the Coast Guard last September. Which leaves me to guess????maybe once a year? I would think once a month ( thoroughly) sounds more reasonable. I'm waiting on the'Official'report.

      Seeing as how they was just leaving port
      These have a diesel electric system
      Diesel engine spins generator that spins electric motors for propulsion
      When docked they tie into grid and have to sync the generator for load sharing
      There is a lot that can go wrong
      Article on physics forums
      How is the turbine speed controlled by grid but not itself
      Picture is a rotor that got thrown through concrete because it was synced 180⁰ out
      The grid will pull it back in sync no matter what's in the way

      My guess anyway that they damaged something syncing to grid before switching off the engine
      Or picking back up the load before leaving port

      Thats still the case. The only difference is if they find out the crew knew it was unsafe and let it leave the port. When stuff like this happens, of course new information comes out, that's the point of the investigation.

      Been watching /reading stuff about powerplants and these ships have to synchronize to the power grid when docked and there is a lot that can go wrong if people are incompetent
      Seen a story about a generator synched 180⁰ out
      Spit the rotor weighing 100s of tons through a reinforced concrete wall
