Nice one! I have this one playing on my living room TV here in New York City as we speak and I'm loving it so far. A big like from me. Have a great week over there!
I also like to walk around in Stockholm in order to know more about street name and area name. And it is benefit for my legs too. Thank you for sharing of Sibirien area. Best wishes
Hi, thanks for the video, a great one as always. And I find really interesting when you give some information about Sweden, like mortgage in this video or when you compare the Netherlands and Sweden. Cheers!
Wide streets with stone pedestrian lanes and a bit of greenery is how you make things pretty. Makes a massive difference even if the buildings look the same.
This was a great video, as I have commented before , I was in Stockholm in the late 1989-1990 as a student. I remember this area walking around from the Tekniska Hogskolan nearby,. I don’t recall so many Burger joints as I see in your videos , as a student I remember eating lots of tunbrodrullar , Swedish hots dogs, …. Nearby the Tekniska. I find your information on living expenses quite interesting keep it up . Are some of the people living there on Rent controlled apartments that have been in the family for many years?
Another nice walk! You walked close to the streets (bragevägen, Verdandigatan, Engelbrektsgata) that connects to Engelbrektskyrkan. I would recommend a walk in that neighborhood as the buildings and the church really stand out with its architecture.
Love My Area Vasastan Or Sibirien ? I thought the Siberian was called the area around Sveaplan because it was cold and windy in ancient times ...well done anway
Also because back then it was practically the countryside, "far" from the real city. There was a few farms and some windmills. So it was, mentally, as far away as Sibirien. Kind of like how some people think Solna is Norrland.
Interesting that cafe and bar owners need a permit to erect those street gazebos. Makes sense. What about tables and chairs located on the pavement in front of horeca establishments? Do the owners have to pay rent? The reason I ask is that that is the case here, and the municipal police control it quite strictly, fining businesses that go just a few centimetres over their designated boundaries. People are very quick to complain about businesses obstructing the pavements too. I've read the complaints on the local district Facebook page. So often makes me want to say to those people, "Get a life!" lol
There are 3 ways of renting. 1. the official city queue ...this is cheaper but you sometimes must wait years for an appartment. 2. private renting . Very expensive . 3 . Live with someone else. Shared accomedation. Best option if you are new in town :)
8.30 is not considered early in most other countries. I used to work on Wall Street and got to the office at 6.30. You'd lose your job if you got to work at 8.30.
@@herrbonk3635 It depends on what industry you work in. Stock markets open even earlier in London than New York and I'm sure equity or bond traders in Spain and Italy have to be at their desks around 7 am at least. If you're a fisherman then 4 am is when you go to work. So it's all relative.
Do you know why the name of Sibirien area? I have heard from a good swedish friend: The Area looks like SIBIRIEN cuase of Not so much people outside :-) I don´t know if it is truth or they are kidding to me :-) Have a nice day in Stockholm.
Its a joke i think. The name (what i read) comes from the fact that the area was poor so people did not have any heating. So it was cold inside the apartments and the nickname Siberia came along .
@@letswalkaroundstockholm LOL yes, I think so... My swedish friend always talks joke to me. Cause I like to laugh. And thank you for your information to me. Useful for me to know the reason of Sibirien area in right way. Take care and have a good time.
Love the comments... I'm married with a swedish inmigrant. We live in a high class area in Mexico City since 16 years ago. We became parents 2 years ago and we are considering to move to Sweden. So, do you think is worth it?...Are we going to be segregated?... Best Regards.
Wonder if Swedish people see an influx of people wanting to work and live in Sweden given relaxed (to me common sense) COVID-related rules ? If you live in Sweden , please comment. Greetings from dictator ruled Australia.
@@letswalkaroundstockholm Many thanks for your reply. Watching your video gave me a sense of freedom and hope. Something we have little in Australia at the moment...
@Hartvig Flögh Many thanks! It is common in the modern world to see people move for work. I am very curious about an increase in people wanting to move to Sweden given the current COVID situation and a unique approach Sweden chose to handle the pandemic. Once again , thank you for your reply !

Enjoyed this one a lot. Also it's nice how everyone is careful to keep out of bicycle route in the pavements. Keep up the good work.

Sibirien is part of Vasastan. So both
Also because back then it was practically the countryside, "far" from the real city. There was a few farms and some windmills. So it was, mentally, as far away as Sibirien. Kind of like how some people think Solna is Norrland.

Yes they pay rent but between October & April its to cold here
Maybe you can say something about the availability/cost for apartments to rent in the center?

Why not visit my childhood city Åkersberga - it a suburb about 30 km north-east from Stockholm
Yes im planning it!

The lack of trees is remarkable
Even Gamla stan was not so long ago known as a rough-barked port area known for its mentally ill and addicts and so on among the residents there.
Ah I didn't know thanks

The US seems pretty extreme then. That would never work in Spain, Portugal or even Italy.
@@herrbonk3635 that would never work pretty much anywhere in Europe. Good.
