  • Welcome back everyone… forgive the my absence in the recent weeks. The Chicago event with MRO Americas and AMC kept me quite busy.
    This is the longest video I have ever made and I hope you guys enjoy the tour of the MRO Americas convention and the AMC events.
    As a side note I forgot to include 2 more events.. one was the human factors multiple choice test and the Michelin Tire inspection.
    Big thank you to all the participants, judges and AMC organizers who made this possible. I’m grateful to have been there and grateful to share it with everyone here.
    Thank you all for being here and we will be back to our regular Stig shift next week.

    Stig, your enthusiasm for aircraft maintenance is truly amazing. Your commitment to coming down to Miami from Los Angeles to assist our students is commendable. Your dedication to their education is inspiring. A big shoutout to all the upper management at American Airlines for their generous support, both financially and by providing personnel. American Airlines went above and beyond by providing airfare and arranging very nice hotel accommodations for the students during their stay. It's this collaborative effort that makes our annual trip to the MRO a success. Thank you all for your unwavering commitment to our students' success! I also want to give a special shoutout to the American Airline technicians in Miami, Florida, who went above and beyond to prepare these students. It was because of them that we had our success. And a huge thank you to Elena Gonzalez, whose invaluable contributions in so many ways played a crucial role in our achievements.

    Hey Stig!! A huge thanks for this video!
    To me it was just fantastic seeing some amazing new tooling …. Dent mapper wow!
    The TR troubleshooting brings memories, but the most important was never ever drop any of those tiny screws down into the throttle quadrant.
    Was laughing hard at the safety box 😅 all aircraft mechanics can relate and it’s the only profession that uses this skill. I still have scars from .041 safety wire. As an Army veteran doing the rotor alignment isn’t appreciated until you’re up on the top of the chopper in the field doing that…. But then that’s true for every event.
    Congratulations to you all!
    Watching this really makes me feel proud of being an A&P. Thanks and stay safe out there.

Kneeling, bending and stretching to get the job done. It may be hard work but we know he has fun! His Company is blessed to have his expertise. Although, it won’t be long before he’ll need a new set of knees! If you happen to be in STIG’s neck of the woods, wave to him and smile. You know he would. Good old STIG. Our pal and our friend. Hello my friend enjoying your vlog today having started watching a few weeks ago you mentioned to comment when we felt compelled well over 50 yrs ago I joined the Air Force to fulfill my duties in the military my best friend and I joined together in the Aircraft maintenance field he chose fuel cell and I choose Crew Chief .I worked on Prop Aircraft all my 4yrs my split half & half Prop and Jet. I enjoy your maintenance logic clear and clean, hard working, but you Keep It Simple Possible .Like today in you vlog when you were doing Safety wiring composition, you brought back the old days when I used to have to Safety Wiring on EC121 AWACS Costallation Aircraft at McClellan AFB,CA .In a year ago I was attaching Bamboo to an a fence I decided to use wire to secure the Bamboo to the current fence in place and I had forgotten that how easy it was to make the wiring with the Safety wiring technique I had learned 50 yrs ago and hadn't use since came in handy. Again Thank You for taking the time to make you Channel it enjoy it a great deal and I'm sure my compadre that's part is part of the "Great Cloud of witnesses that is looking down on use cheering us on!.

    Always nice to see someone else who has to touch everything. Like you alluded to in the museum video, needing to feel the movements and weights and textures of mechanisms.
    I wonder what kinds of toys you were into as a kid?
    I mostly enjoyed Lego and Matchbox cars. I'd play with them very up close and slow, to see suspension move and details and in effect to scale with the real thing. Would also cut off remove control wires of cars to be close to them and never liked RC because it was far away and too fast to appreciate. I ended up being a software engineer after quitting mechanical in college due to math and ADHD but it's still my personal enjoyment preference. Anything that rolls, swims or flies. I've heard countless time, why are you touching everything!?

    As a mechanical engineer and an aviation enthusiast, I loved this video. I've never heard of this competition and It seems to be a very interesting event. I wonder if it is open to the general public or it is just for the industry... In case it is open, do you have an idea of how much is the ticket?

    • @StigAviation
      @StigAviation  5 месяцев назад +1

      It’s open to everyone. All you have to do is register with MRO Americas website. If you’re a vendor or competitor then it’s free. If you’re a visitor I believe it’s a small fee to get in.

    Nope. Didn't see or hear any reference to GE in your vid, Stig. Tho it seems likely they (and others) would've been there for the advertising exposure.
    Re: speed
    You're sure right. Take your time (real world) and do the job right. Only exception l can think of would be combat operations.
    Haha. Ol' Connie Kalitta. No surprise. He just had to get his dragster's in there (39:51ff)!
    Dang. Sure like to know more about RR's huge new turbine/reduction gear setup. Reduction gear xmt's some 75MW's at fulI load from what l hear (if l've got it right). Very hi power/energy density. Gonna have to watch/check 'em like a hawk when they enter svc, l'd think. They're using their head's for something besides hatrax. Huge new planes now on the dwg board gonna require a Iotta power & efficiency (reduction gears). Very hi initiaI expenditure coming up with a prototype under those circumstances (no newbuiIds currently being made for a turbine setup that big). But, good for them. I think they'll be coming along shortly. Esp. big freighters. Everybody's doing it. Scale economics. E.g. containerships are carrying some 25k teu's now. Problem is they're only a few ports capable of handling them, e.g.Los Angeles/LB, Rotterdam, LeHavre, Singapore, etc.. That's my favorite kinda flying. Flying hr after hr out over the ocean. Making exotic ports. Seeing alI kinds of people; cultures. Did it on C - 130's in USCG in PAC Basin SAR (40:00ff).
    Finally, you're right. Saw GE at 40:25
    Saw you changing your fuel nozzle. You guys aren't using antisIeaze on fasteners (except nylox, of course). Why?

    • @StigAviation
      @StigAviation  5 месяцев назад +2

      In the real world, yes we would be using anti-seize. But once again, this was a simulation so it was not needed.

As a retired Airline Mechanic and Aerospace Industry worker, I appreciate that you are using the power of the internet to show what Mechanics do daily and the level of technical knowledge needed to maintain aircraft in an airworthy condition. Working mostly behind the scenes but accomplishing the important jobs that keep airplanes safe to fly, your videos do a fantastic job and are a credit to all Mechanics and Aircraft Maintenance Support staff.
