  • Lughnasadh (otherwise known as Lammas) is one of the very first sabbats that humans ever celebrated and is part of the Wiccan Wheel of the Year sabbats. There is something primeval in offering sacrifice in return for the reaping of the grain, you can almost feel it in your bones that blood should be spilt. However, these practices are thankfully in the past and so Lughnasadh can now be celebrated as a general joy in the world and the Mother Earth.
There are many traditions and celebrations, but short of practicing the ancestors rather dubious rites, I believe in a general party and celebration style sabbat!

My Grandmama would do a yearly rune reading for each of us during this time- Im not completely certain why but I know it had to do with Odin hanging from the Ash tree & having the Runes revealed to him🌳It was a Fun Tradition🔮

Lughnasadh is my favorite holy day on the old calendar. This time through the Yule, is the most beautiful time of the year IMHO. I always make bread, plus a feast of seasonal produce.

Great to hear your knowledge about the roots of Witchcraft, the tribal traditions of ancient Britain. The Celts, the Druids and all the other invaders who stayed on like the Angles, Saxons & Viking invaders all knew of & used Magick & summoned spirits. We have lost so much of the ways & means our ancestors knew.It was purposely buried along with those who practiced those powerful arts, hidden & cut out of our lives to suit the religious cults. Thanks for the reminder Ginny 👍

You saying you are 4th generation witch made so happy! Paganism and witchcraft is really making a comeback. The faith of our ancestors is being replenished.

you can make tea from all the plant - they have a sweeter flavour if you use the flowers though

When I lived on the west coast in California ages ago we would bake break over an open fire. Now living in Texas, I can’t imagine having a hot fire going to bake bread. Maybe a quick coo,omg tortilla, but not bread. It’s just too hot. Our flowers are spent and it’s entering hurricane season. Feast or famine for rain. It is not even close to the autumn season, instead we are in the second summer season, or locally known as the “Surface of the Sun”. We can bake bread on the sidewalks.
This is the season of iced tea, chilled fruit and veggies, and other cold dishes: the last of the cucumbers in cold salads or water.

I have a question about the bread ritual: After we say the words, do we eat the bread?

You can eat it or offer it to another (either person or deity)

I dont believe in nature revenge ,I believe in balance in nature . Everything taken from nature must be payed by returning something to it,ony i dont know always how i try my own way to think how to repay .I must harwest my corn soon so i must return something for it .Is corn doll enough for nature to show worship ?

    Thankyou for this beautiful video.
I miss the old ways, and this is one of the first videos I've seen that seems to point to the difference between an Offering and a true Sacrifice. I'll just leave that there, but Thankyou.
Because of the seeming imbalance on our earthly planet I feel inclined to add many Flowers & Herbs and small tree branches to my little corn doll. This would represent the need for many rooted ones(plants) to be better protected and respected. Maybe I'll incorporate not only asking for abundance but asking for protection of our natural world. Asking for hearts that are closed/blinded to this to have an experience to open them to what needs to happen to help clean up and better respect our planetary home.
    🌎🪶🔥🌊❤️!
