I was going to ask if it’s compatible with the Sunrider, but then noticed one of their purchase options specifically mentions the Sunrider!! Looks like a great product.
Would love to see epic expand that panel to the passenger and driver side, I believe American Adventure lab has a version like that. But might have to test it out for taller people :/
Great design. Great use of space. BUT you stated something in your opening that is the #1 reason why I shy away from these (and I'm not as tall as you.) and that was you stated that you hit your head. For me safety is #1 so there's no way I'm putting anything like that above my head that can slice me open in an accident or roll over even with the seatbelt on. Now I know someone will chime in and say "well you can hit your head on the bar over your left side, or the top of the door frame, etc... but the JL's have plastic over that roll bar and seemingly no sharp edges per say. My YJ and old TJ's have padding as most know. Another reason that I shy away from those overhead options is space. Look I've been in my YJ for 27 years and my JL for 4 years and I'm one who takes my top off frequently so blocking that space above with "stuff" is not my thing. But again, it is a great design and to many a great solution however I'd recommend newbies get used to their rigs first and figuring out what you really need vs want.
Ya. It's the quadlock charging base and ball mount connected to a 1in ball adapter for 67 designs and 67 designs arm and rail mount. Then I use a quadlock case on my phone. Run a usb cable up to it thru the dash or between window and dash to power it. Quarter turn to attach to the mount. And it wirelessly charges.
What grade aluminum is it made of? I'd like to think its 6061 for how much it cost. I mean, $600 for a piece of aluminum, two small pouches and a led light, is a bit excessive.
@@Casey250 You're the Best, Thank you! I will be making the drive to BC next summer. Brand new 2023 Sarge Green Gladiator. Coming from the other coast, NS. Brother lives in Kelowna. Looking forward to visiting Epic and spending way too much money! lol!
Hi Casey, would you please consider doing a dedicated video on how you installed your mobile 2-way radio into the JT (and maybe touch on how and where you mounted the body of the radio in the JL, for that matter). I have the same model Yaesu that you have in the JL and I intend to put the control head on my own molle panel similar to what you did in the EcoDiesel, but I'm having a devil of a time figuring out where to mount the main body of the radio. Please and thanks! Do you use the Resource Road channels on the BC back roads and logging roads or just stick to the ham or GMRS channels?
@@Otownoverland Doesn't look like there's room. Did you screw the mounting brackets into something or just velcro the unit in or what? Would be extremely grateful for pictures if you have a link.
Sure. I'm going to get the updated yaesu for the JT. But essentially it's under my driver foot well on the left side zip tied to the aluminum piece were your left foot rests. I think behind the glove box might have more room. Going to investigate for the jt
@@Casey250 Strong suggestion: DON'T get the FTM-500. It's a huge downgrade in terms of features and the screen is much smaller. The FTM-400 is by far the best mobile radio ever invented for off-road use. Although it's discontinued it's well worth looking for one new-old-stock or gently used. Pry mine from my cold dead fingers. 44 years in ham radio and quite a while off-roading.
@@Casey250 I have an aftermarket dead pedal. Are you referring to the space above that, near where the CANbus connectors were initially before installing the Tazer, and behind the ODB-II port? Or somewhere else? With the FTM-400, for me at least, is ensuring I can easily get to the MicroSD card so I can change the programming as needed.
Same way as running the power to the CROW, but instead of going up the A pillar, go along the bottom of the wind shield and tuck the cable behind. You can also take the radio out, drill a hole in the dash where the rail mount is, and put the USB ports in the dash.

Are we just gonna ignore the cute rabbits that sprinted across the drive??
lol
@6:20 no we're not
I went from "I don't want to drill, I'll go with the 3M ta-- Oh look cute bunnies!"
I saw this setup on some of the overland expo coverage and I have to say I'm considering upgrading from my JCR Off-road MOLLE panel to this.

This MUST HAVE is definitely not because Epic just released this 🤔
I love it. They really took a lot of feedback from downsides of other panels and poured it all into this.
Looks very professional.
Did anybody catch the two rabbits running through the background?
Was wondering how long it would take to get a comment on that.

Ya I'd never want that above my head. I'm too tall.

Great video. My crow will be in tomorrow.
Figured you wouldn't wait long to pick one up lol.
Very nice video I found it to be very informative and I neat tool.
Glad it was helpful!
I was going to ask if this worked with the power top and then looked at the site and it does lol. Guess I’m dropping 300 bucks
Waiting for mine to arrive in UAE
I love it, I will pick this up when I’m in BC next month
Awesome! Worth stopping in the shop for sure :) Order ahead though, there selling out.

I agree with all of what you said. Few people seem to consider what could happen when things go wrong.

Still on the fence about buying this and using it as a traction board for my JK. I want the bags and patches ;)
LOL!
Near the beginning of the video what is the JOBY thing on your overhead rake?
It's a tablet mount I used to hold the faceplate of my radio

Casey, do you use the QuadLock base and arm for your QL mount and case? or do you use I different arm and base for the QuadLock mount / case?
Quadlock charging base and ball adapter and case, and a 67 designs arm.

Goes under the steering wheel, remove the trim panel under, and fits right in there

Where do you get mounts for this?
If you take a look at the online manual there are compaanies and part numbers in it.
Can't you flip the window forward and run the wire?
You could do that too.
