The history of this site goes back to pre-christian era. (1st or 2nd century B.C.) This area is surrounded by stones and drip ledges caves. According to the history these drip ledges caves were first used by medidating buddhist monks. This is a very important place to see rock inscriptions in pre christian era.
According to the folklores some of these caves have been used by king Walagamba in the ancient past.
Very beautiful,calm and important place to visit around Kurnegala.
