I work for a CATERPILLAR dealer in Eastern Kentucky. That is a D11R, We have one in the shop now doing a CAT Certified Rebuild on it. I am currently building the operator compartment also know as the cab.
Fort Mac will get -40 and colder in February, when I was there in 08 we had to shut down a couple nights cause it was close to -50 C,the company policy was not to operate the equipment below -40 to cut down on breakage from the cold
D-11 You sure can hear that 3500 series Cat motor sound just like they bogging down but you watch and the track's are spinning.. I notice that on our 1st D-11 you think the motor need's more power but if it spinning it's track's it doing it's job..
My gosh.....thats a big machine.Ive seen eights and nines at work but those 11,s are a mighty big crawler.Anyone know the price tag on one of those babies?
Cat challenger line of tractors are made in italy spain and there about. They dont make them they just buy them and put their name on them.Maybe they should stop the line from spain.
Jobs in Nova Scotia??? Not too many good jobs around here. That is why most Maritimer have to pack up and head out west to Alberta. Out there jobs are plentiful and the money is good. Nova Scotia just a nice place to live after you retire.
Nice video. I like watching those big dozers and any earth moving equipment.
thx a lot for posting that vid and form filming out there in the cold.
I've done it for a long time and it don't bore me.
Man, you must have your fav tunes playin on that long haul..

The 3412 is in a D10..a 3508 is in a D11.. Maybe a 3214 but I haven't yet worked on one, but have rebuilt 4 3412's in the d10
Catpillar 3412 also used in 992 and 990 rubber tired loader's
fort mac dosent get colder than like -30 celcius and you need a class 1 licence
I had a BTD 20 great machine lots of levers to pull, operators are spoiled these days
Would love to hit the big lottery. Purchase couple of heavy equipment, land and have some fun.
I drove a TD20 years ago, if you were caught spinning tracks you were looking for another job.
@TheHairybaz What are slews and moxies?
