My son (6 years old) knows this song by heart. He was looking forward to the final performance and cried a lot when he found out that the Netherlands had been disqualified. Unfair punishment!
As a child he told his parents that he will be on the Eurovision stage one day. Then his parents died but he still kept on working hard to get to Eurovision. And after all this hardwork he finally gets the chance to be on Eurovision but then his chance was ruined by a rude reporter and got he disqualified..

This song should've won for the following reasons: 1. It's fun 2. It's about Europe This might've been one of the biggest upsets in Eurovision history.
Imagine you are an organizer of an event where music is supposed to bring us together and you exclude an artist who preaches exactly that in his song. and all because you, as the organizer, could not ensure that his privacy and well-being were protected. As if that weren't enough, you subsequently benefit from the artist by leaving his videos online under your name and collecting the views and the resulting money.
This is silly, If you worked for an organization and someone of the talent you invite allegedly threatens you/someone cause you're/they're part of the TV stage developer when stage training goes wrong then if that is reported to the police and an investigation is opened up the show will take that serious until proven false/true. Maybe don't get upset with your crew even if stuff goes wrong?
@@kludd5007 As @Mr_RiverDwarf has already said, the presumption of innocence applies and accordingly what you write is absolute rubbish and apart from that, if one of your employees films another "employee" and thereby harasses it, it would be very easy to resolve this situation. Extra proud of my country today for planning to file an official complaint to the EBU regarding the disqualification of the Netherlands 🇷🇸❤🇳🇱 You guys are not alone in this!!
From Swedish police: Swedish police confirmed that a man had been reported for making "unlawful threats" at Malmö Arena, after Thursday's semi-final. "The police have taken all essential investigative measures and questioned the suspect, plaintiff and witnesses," a spokesperson said. "The investigation has been completed by the police... and the case will now go to the prosecutor within a few weeks."
@@etaithegamer1560 He should only get disqualified if he has been proven guilty. Else anyone can file a complaint about any contestant just to get them out of the contest. Also from what information we have now it seems that his punishment was considerably disproportionate, especially because the photographer herself also didn’t respect his privacy.
This song is really perfect. He managed to tribute his parents, his childhood, Dutch culture and Europe all in the same song, and it is still good. So sad that this whole ordeal has to be this infuriating…
I'd give him a people's heart award (the euro would then have two ways to win, judges and voting for normal prizes and the people's heart given a week after the event to the act most favored by the public that didn't win on the finals night throughout the year in question with all acts).
There is no expectation of privacy in a public setting, however there is an expectation of respect for lack of consent. Crazy decision making on the side of the EBU.
Nou ik ben benieuwd of Nederland komend jaar nog mee gaat doen aan het Songfestival. En erna. Als er bij de EBU niks gaat veranderen, dan gaat Nederland niet meer meedoen.

It was not what he expected, but still he made it to that stage…I hope he is keeping that in mind❤️
His rude and aggressive bullying of another contestant was probably the tip of the ice berg of misbehavior. Basic manners would have kept the Netherlands in the contest.

This is silly, If you worked for an organization and someone of the talent you invite allegedly threatens you/someone cause you're/they're part of the TV stage developer when stage training goes wrong then if that is reported to the police and an investigation is opened up the show will take that serious until proven false/true.
