The Dodgers are probably angling to aquire Kyle Tucker after next season . He wasn't part of the 2017 Astros major league team. It makes sense now. Letting Teo go and signing Conforto who's pretty good by the way in the interim.
It sounds like mookie wanted the challenge for himself. To prove that he could do it. Because he didn't perform up to his expectations last season and so he wants to take it on again but with adequate preparation. This is purely mookie driven
just let tommy play there and let mookie play 2nd base. it seems like mookie is doing too much you don't have to prove to everybody you can play ss just play where he helps the dodgers the best which is outfield or 2nd base.
Edman is a super sub . He's not really a full time shortstop either. Rojas isn't either. And he admits that. Shortstop is a rotation position or should be,along with catching and centerfield.
Dodgers should just resign Teoscar and go with a lineup like this: 1) Ohtani 2) Betts (SS) 3) Freeman 4) T. Hernandez (RF) 5) Conforto (LF) 6) Muncy 7) Smith 8) Lux 9) Edman (CF) It’s simple and doesn’t require much change. Resign Kikè to be utility, and get Pages and Rushing in there when possible.
Jeff - the only issue was just the throw? dude, did you watch the games closely? he is out of position when the ball is hit with runners on base, he is not moving instinctively to the spots he needs to be for backups and relays on the non-routine balls hit. he doesn't move his positioning on his own for the pitch being thrown, he doesn't have the instincts of a SS. period. i love Marcus but SS is not an experiment position. this will bite them in the postseason.
This negates the whole reasoning behind moving him to the infield in the first place to according to them getting Mookie off his knees and less stress on his hips. He cant do it long term and not suffer a loss of productivity.
mookies offense when he moved to ss wasn't very good it only got better when he moved back to the outfield. plus if they can't re-sign teo they are going to rely on pages, conforto and a unproven rushing not exactly world series outfield.
this is a horrible move that Mookie pushed on the Dodgers. Just think about how valuable he was in the OF during the postseason. You are taking Roberto Clemente and moving him to a position that is below league average at. It makes no sense! Tommy is the guy to lock in at SS and watch him blossom. SS is huge for the core of the entire defense and it is not a position you just take on at 30+ years old. no-brainer...GG in RF....please play RF!
Dodgers reportedly offered Lux and Feduccia for Delvin Williams. I don't think the kicker was Durbin. I think it was Nestor. Maybe if the Dodgers offered up Lux and Frasso they get it done. Oh well.
That doesn't make sense from Milwaukee's perspective. Or the Dodgers to be dumb enough to think that an offer of that nature would fly with the Brew crew. Did they really?
@@miketaylor7023 Not sure now. I read it in a long thread in TrueBlueLA. They said the report came from Blake Williams but I haven't seen anything online. I'm now thinking maybe it isn't true and I agree with you. Not much of an offer unless It was Lux, Fedducia and another prospect.
I don't see why not try Lux at SS. He hasn't had a real chance to play that which has been his position in the minors. On the other hand, I hope they get things straight with Mookie in case things aren't going as planned.
Mookie grew up at SS, he also played second in the minors. He has a whole offseason and spring training to prepare. He’s a phenomenal athlete, with good preparation he can do it!
He's 32 going on 33 next season . So it makes sense to limit his games there to 80 games or less and rotate him between second and right interspersed with intermittent resting periods of indefinite length. Anywhere from maybe a few days, weeks, one month, two, three, four, five, six months, or a year or two off to rest, recover,or recalibrate is how to look at intermittent rest periods for all players who need it throughout the year every year. And rotating multiple players on defense to ease the wear and tear. Especially at the catching, shortstop, and centerfield positions I would prefer 3 to 7 players subbing in those positions ideally. Even if it's not feasible from on a total options standpoint on callups from the minors. They pick up players year round from outside the organization who play some games then they release them. So it seems like they can fill in some games with temps to keep their stars sufficiently well rested and more injury free also. Along with rotating what's on the roster. But no way would you allow Betts to play 120 games at short when he's turning 33 next october. Regardless of his being on the cusp of max athleticism and the end of youthful cellar regeneration turning the corner at age 32. It's all scientific if you've developed your intelligence far enough . If. Pitchers also are prime candidates for extended extensively periods of intermittent rest periods as they often need to recover longer or recalibrate. It's obvious too! Sometimes a little work with long periods off help a student with practical experiences in brief moments to acclimate to what's going on before formulating new methods to approach the problem of how to approach playing at a higher level. This usually doesn't happen immediately and could take years and decades to try and approach perfection more closely. Although some of the methods have variation and the time to improve to more proficient levels varies widely over timeframes of wave function possibilities and 100% of statistical results which are a wave function over time and not a resting particle point in a theory base upon the imagination. Reality basically , viewed from infinite perspectives of validity yielding a definite percentage of actuality after the fact has occurred.
I think Mookie will be much better than “competent” given some time. He’s a great ball player and athlete…period!
We knew this 4 years ago!

Question is WHY...what is the obsession with playing him there if you have Tommy????

They put to much into lux! They need to let that go!
Ask yourself this. Do you trust mookie in October at SS?
Betts and Lux are the good duo. 🟦🟦⭕️⭕️
Betts (50).
Lux (9).
Help the pitchers with defense. 👍👍⚾⚾

wasn't the throw the issue with Lux at SS
I’m a little concerned w Mookie at SS…I think he could learn it but I’m more worried about the wear and tear on his body
Betts(50) and Lux(9).
Take a lot of knocks in the offseason. 🏏⚾️🏏⚾️
You guys can make the good combination.👍👍

Your question about whether Mookie can perform at the shortstop position is not valid. Everybody knows that. He will excel at anything on the field.
Mookie should play 2nd base not SS. Watch, his bat will drop by 50 points.

Tommy is below average SS and potentially elite defensive outfielder
Trust me. Both Lux and Betts will do well.
Is freeland not ready to play SS?
I love Gavin, he’s the man. But Tommy plays a hell of a second base…
I just think Mookie playing shortstop is going to affect his hitting
I don’t think so Mookie even said it’s a wearing position.
Miguel Rojas is still there to back him up in case something goes wrong.

Lux has any value for them?

Preparation does NOT make you a more accurate thrower....its something you are BORN with!!! He is gonna get Freddie hurt like Muncy did in 2021.
i pray mookie does better than how he was the first time in shortstop
but hes mookie betts and a vet im pretty sure he got it right?
No no no no no mookie is a second baseman or outfield
Mookie grew up at SS, he also played second in the minors. He has a whole offseason and spring training to prepare. He’s a phenomenal athlete, with good preparation he can do it!
The question is..can we resign teo and sign tanner Scott since the yanks got Devin williams and we need to replace hud and kelly
Mookie can do this at short stop
Why are Dodgers doing this. Release Lux.obing players to enable a marginal player Lux is just stupid
Wouldn't it make more sense to move Mookie to CF?

cellular regneration
Totally disagree
You guys are not real fans. The hard part is you guys not believing in Mookie
Well said ! I totally believe Mookie can play that position he’s great !
real fans? i want what is best for the Dodgers, not one player. This is a pipe dream of his! Tommy is a much better shortstop. TEAM
Mookie can play shortstop, but do you want him there longterm?
@@ShawnFerguson-ng2pcTommy numbers at short stop are actually below league average. He’s much better at OF, gold glover
I'm more concerned about the likelihood of an injury fielding a ground ball than anything!
He will be a gold glover you’ll see
i would give you 100-1 odds that he does not finish as a finalist for gold glove at SS
All I know is. We need to get younger.
