That’s just kinda disrespectful at that point??? If you’re a girl in Korea and are close to a guy that’s older than you and he asks you to call him oppa, I feel like it would be so disrespectful just to be like “ew no I’ll just call you hyung since that’s less cringey.” Using honorifics is a huge part of Korean culture, so the fact that I see so many foreigners completely disregarding it just because they saw one Koreaboo use it and thought it was cringe is just tiring in my opinion. Like why even use honorifics at all at that point? You’re a foreigner, they wouldn’t really expect you to use honorifics on them anyways since that’s not something you do in YOUR culture, so just stick to calling them by their name and skip the ridiculing of THEIR culture. Sorry if I sound rude, it just is starting to get on my nerves since I see it so often.
