Estes Rockets Basics, Tips and Tricks

Someone local was going to launch a rocket for the first time and I wanted to give them a run down on how a typical Estes rocket works. Some basics on motor designations, parachute packing, installing igniters, and using the launch pad.

Thanks! I’m sure colder ambient temps have some effect, but not sure the quantifiable numbers are. I’ve read burn rate may slow down a little but I honestly don’t notice. Startup seems slower on the ice too.
