I’ve been looking at the area and will be visiting in April. Perhaps we’ll be in touch. I’m from upstate NY and pools are very popular here even though it’s a frozen wasteland for 6 mos. a year. Why are there are no pools in Oregon ? Are they illegal😂 ? it’s much milder there Does it rain too much to keep pools properly maintained? I have questions.

Hi David- wow, our names are pretty similar, I wonder if our ancestors were friends. Pools- they’re not illegal or anything but certainly uncommon at peoples homes, probably because the water table is so high in the valley(?). You’ll want to get a membership to Osborn aquatic center or timberhill athletic club if you’re in Corvallis. Great facilities! Feel free to be in touch:)

Really excellent synopsis. I'm hoping to land a job is Corvallis in the near future and this video really answered in detail the questions I had.

I have been watching your very informative videos, Michael, and I thought I would lay this down here...
I have very accurate and very rare maps of about 200 Calapooia Indian Mounds and Burial Mounds between Albany, Halsey, and Brownsville, and up the Upper Calapooia River southeast of Brownsville. That's south of Albany and southeast of Corvallis. Only a few mounds remain. Most have been looted and flattened by farmers over the last 200 years. Some of them had baby stone pyramids on them like the ones in Pennsylvania according to Horner of the Horner museum on the Oregon State University campus. One if them is near the west end of 53rd Avenue in Albany immediately west of the Spirit Mountain subdivision. I have been to the top of that mound. It's on City of Albany property, and there are no signs of any kind, so I just parked and walked in. lol 'apologize if I have to later - that kind of thing. It was kind of a mystical experience. I had a Choctaw Indian with me, and he was a bit awestruck. There are Choctaw and Mohawk Indians around here, and a very small number of Calapooia Indians. There is a small community of Mayan Indians in West Albany, too. I think that most of the Calapoia Indians are near Spirit Mountain Casino northwest of here. The curator of the museum there is the purest of the Calapooia Indians. His name is David.
I have found homes and other structures on Mound sites. If you are brokering, considering selling, or considering buying real estate in this area, you really ought to contact me at dcm12212012@gmail.com to determine if the property is on a Mound site. Oregon has a full disclosure law. Anything that is known that would give a buyer pause must be disclosed by the broker to any and all potential buyers. I do not advise building a home on a burial mound site. That would be like the movie Poulterguise.

Thanks Mike, just beginning thinking about a move to this region. We’re in SoCal right now and plan on doing a vacation this year here to check it out. We’re looking for clean air, less people, green & trees, and value. Sounds like a home run so far! I’m concerned about months and months of rain and clouds though because I have lived that in CT and NY for years and don’t want to go back to that :0. I’m thinking in this region its more mellow on and off again but not sure… Appreciate the channel, its really helpful!

Thanks for the positive comment! I’m glad this is a useful resource for you. Let me know if you want to connect when you know when you’ll be up here. I grew up in Connecticut- the weather here is very different. We do have a lot of overcast, but it tends to drizzle on and off, which is different than rain storms like on the east coast. I hope that makes sense:)

That totally does, that’s actually kind of what we’d be up for! Build some outdoor living pergola and get a big fireplace and heaters and I am thinking it would be fun!
