Thanks for the video, hey do the new grill grates go the other way up? In the video you can see stand offs on the corners which at a total guess I'd think we're to suspend the grate off the BBQ itself?

Good eye. You are absolutely correct. They were positioned that way in the video because they were new and I was showing that they were in the box and ready to use. I did flip them over. I was wondering if anyone would notice. LOL. Good job. They look better placed the correct way, too.

You can save your grill grates and make it more sanitary by cooking on aluminum foil instead of directly on the grill.

How much money did you spend on replacement parts? How much time did you spend doing the rehab? How long did you go without a grill? What is the comparative price of a new grill?
These are the types of questions i ask before i start a project like that.

I spent about $100 in parts. The job would go faster if I had everything delivered ahead of time, but I didn't. I had to wait on a few parts.
I was without the grill for about a week or so. Once I saw the bottom of the cabinet rusted out, I did have a brief moment where I thought I should return the parts and just buy a new grill. But, really, it's an easy fix-er-up-er.
And now, I should get plenty more use out of it. We do use it all year round, even in the bitter cold winter.
New grill like this would have cost me about $600. Maybe next year I will upgrade.

Another bingo Mr. Gebo! The grill looks good and you will get a number of years out of it, not just one.
