    DAPHNIA:
    Daphnia, a genus of small planktonic crustaceans, are 0.2-5 millimetres in length. Daphnia are members of the order Cladocera, and are one of the several small aquatic crustaceans commonly called water fleas because their saltatory swimming style resembles the movements of fleas.

    Adding cowdung is one of the best ways to organically produce daphnia. It increases the risk of cross contanimation and bacterial growth though. Theres a few other ways to develop a good green-water (phytoplanktonic) culture if one is afraid of bacterial contamination. Adding hay or other organic matter will produce phytoplanktons, but it will also increase the bacterial load due to rotting. It is always best to use cowdung than hay or composted veggies. Rotting cowdung is basically broken down plant matter which is easier to decompose, turning the water green early. It does produce a lot of infusoria, which is the prime food for daphnia.

      What about some fertilizer & fish manure 😅

    • @flar3s539
      @flar3s539 4 года назад +15

      @@hridoy10020 fish manure would increase the ammonia in water which changes the chemical qualities of water drastically. Cowdung too changes the water parameters and chemical formulation but slowly and gradually gives the daphnia time to acclamatise. If you want to artifically fertilise the water, you can use urea. But if you are using urea, make sure that you add urea to the culture tank atleast 7 days before or until the water turns green. If you innoculate the starter culture of daphnia before the nytrifying cycle is complete, there are high chances that your daphnia would crash as daphnias are very sensitive to chemicals. Its all trial and error method. I'd recommend you go for organic fertilisation methods for the culture tank.. hope my piece of information works for you. If not, let me know. I will make myself more clear.

    I have a wall fountain in full sun that pours into a basin 32"x 6' then into another basin that flows into an upper pond. I have Hydrilla (Hydrilla verticillata) inside of this basin which the Daphnia thrive. Only nutrients I give them are coming from the pond itself. There are literally millions of Daphnia in this basin which eventually spread out throughout the pond and breed in an upper pond as well, in the roots of water hyacinth. You can pull up one plant and there will be hundreds of them on the roots. I'm going to start giving them dry yeast to raise their numbers even more thanks to your advice. My pond is stocked with Bass, Bream, catfish, shiners, crawfish, fathead minnows and snails. Pond is all natural and crystal clear. Great channel! I have learned a lot from you!

    Sir dex, easy way is to mix yung Upa ba or rice hull sa triple 16 na abono at urea bali tag iisang cup lang nang triple 16 at 1 cup din nang Urea then 1 cup na rice hull. Mix mo.sila sir sa 1 galloon na tubig. Pag na mix na sir e strainer mo mixture mo para di madumi ang tubig pag nilagay mo sa green water at e bilad sa araw. After 2 days okay na yan ipakain sa daphnia culture mo. Bali yan yung source of food nang daphnia moina. Kung na notice mo.din sir madami daphnia moina sa palayan kasi may abono ang lupa.
