  • Abandoned Boston Market - Columbus, OH *Filmed On A GE X400 Camera*. Little by little, this company has been shutting down locations nationwide. By now, there are roughly 20 locations remaining, if even that many. I thought, for fun, I would film this location using my newly acquired GE X400 digital camera. Hope you enjoy!

Cool video man! I used to work on W. Broad St., at what is now Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet. I used to go to that Boston Market a couple times a week. It's a real shame, what that area has become. When the casino was built, promises of a "new West Side" was all we heard, and looked forward to. Those were lies. It's worse now than it's ever been. And just getting worse.

I store my vintage busses at that uhaul down the street (old meijer repurposed) and always get hit up for $$ at all the intersections around there or in the sheetz parking lot.

I lived on the west side as a kid 1954 through 1961, it was a wonderful place back then. Westinghouse and GM were the engines of the economy, Great Western shopping center with a miniature 7 wonders of the world and Westgate park, Winko lanes, Miles drive ins, Big Bev drive in, all being places I spent considerable time. The whole Columbus area was great up through the late 70's, downtown, east, west and north all had attractions and vibrant businesses, but now it all seems to have turned into a ghetto. I could now get lost on streets I once knew well, and the only thing going is outside of the outer-belt in the white flight suburbs, like Dublin, Powell and New Albany etc. It's really sad.

Boston Chicken kicked off a wave of copycat rottesirie Chicken joints. From Poulett USA to Kenny Roger's and many others. Most if not all are gone. A cautionary restaurant tale because generally all did well initially. Perhaps oversaturation of a particular niche. Lack of variety could have been a problem. Quality was decent but the price point was always well above standard fast food even the standard Chicken places. But what did survive and do well are the Peruvian style rottesirie Chicken places that offer more flavourful Chicken and interesting delicious sides in huge quantities at a very reasonable price. Plus ethnic foods of any variety are all the rage now. But the Boston Chicken/Boston Market downfall was interesting. When they first opened I would have never predicted it because they were incredibly popular. Nice video.

The Popeyes next to the Boston Market used to be a Wendy's, the Value City Furniture used to be a Hobby Lobby, the Big Lots next to the Value City Furniture used to be a SuperStore, and the Victory Fitness used to be a Deals & Steals Furniture & Mattress. (Deals & Steals Furniture & Mattress actually go together as a name) The Signature Furniture, not far from the York Steakhouse used to be an Hhgregg in 2007, then a Family Thrift took over Hhgregg in September 2011, but it ended up closing in 2012. In 2014, it became a Payless Furniture store, but they changed the name of Payless Furniture to Signature Furniture in 2022.
