He wants revenge and Mephiles thinks that erasing everyone is justified to where he believes everyone is just greedy and humanity is just crap so now he wants create destruction and erase it all. And when he becomes Solaris he begins the end of everything and Solaris despite how there are others alive. A piece of him wants to give them a final test to see if they could fix everything and to show if their really strong enough. And they do this fighting his darker side of himself. Then the final piece “I can taste the day,savor night, scream your dreams as you dare to fight” Which is not only the fight against Solaris but the dreams are everyone including Sonic, Shadow, Silver and the entire cast screaming their dreams to fight Solaris and save everything against his final form where he loses control with a light in him wishing the same as his darker side tries to destroy them all. I think the lyrics totally make sense to the song it mashes up to, because both of the story's purpose has to do with ending / forever continuing time. Now combine this with the Time Eater!
I agree. With many enemies it's just "what's his motivation?" and the answer is "he's a robot"! But Mephiles, Mephiles has depth, he is smart and cunning and has character development. Do an '06 remake, SEGA!! (just don't mess it up like last time)

These were literally some pf my favorite pArts of the soundtracks of both games. You did an amazing job timing movement from one section of EotW to another. The drums, my god, I put my volume a little louder to get even more of the chills I feel when I hear bass and drums mix like that! Outstanding job!
There it is. Finally found it again. I downloaded this on a very old computer (the fate of which I don't know) a long time ago and forgot the name. Remembered the song today completely randomly and discovered that I still very vividly remember the lyrics. Did anyone ever consider maybe Lancelot was a reformed Mephiles trying to atone for his crimes, finding himself in this dying world, and taking up the mantle of a Knight of the Round Table, and the only reason it looks and sounds like Shadow is because he feared being recognized and disguised himself accordingly? He's already taken Shadow's form in '06, and he was essentially thrown through time and space after Solaris's defeat, and even someone as evil-genius as Eggman can still be nice, as seen in the SA2 credits. I theorize that the Time Eater is his second attempt to kill Sonic by using Eggman as his tool again, but he fails. After three failed attempts, he's gotta be sick of trying, being smarter than Eggman he'll actually quit, and ends up in King Arthur's court. It might also explain why Silver and Blaze are there, and maybe Secret Rings is more connected too. After all, Mephiles is basically a godling with time-space powers, he could've been the one who told Sharah and Merlina about Sonic, and only *played* dumb in Black Knight!

Those three were alive long enough ago to have seen the Echidna tribe. That just leaves Solaris, who could just as easily been the force behind Erazor Djinn/Alf Wayla Waa Layla! He could've then become Percival/Blaze, as well as augmenting Merlina's power for the final battle as a test for Sonic and Excalibur to unlock their true might!

Solaris literally means light and when we see Excalibur it is literally a beam of light! And come to think about it Amy ( who has the lady of the lakes form) had a deep connection with Elise in 06 and Elise was one of the main reasons iblis and Mephiles were created because her father looked away from what he was doing to pay attention to her... So possibly the lady of the lake had some connection? Also in the legends Gallahad (who silver takes role as) is Lancelot's son in the legend which may represent the bond between Mephiles and silver. And Iblis probably did have something to do with Gavian (I think that's how you spell it) knuckles acts a lot more hot-headed (no pun intended) toward sonic and how he only attacks with raw power instead of thinking it through, which is iblis' purpose as the physical side of Solaris. So he wouldn't be likely to think it through.( Man this theory is so cool btw )

@ike6252 well it really depends on the song itself. using adobe audition 3, i can reduce or raise the volume of the mono sound (in this case, the vocals, bass guitar, and drums) and then i take that edit and put it into audacity where i can accurately sync the music
holy shit this a surprisingly good mash-up, never wouldve even thought to put these two songs together! :D EDIT: heres a nice little title: End the World with Me. suiting since killing Sonic essentially caused the end of the world (in the alternate timeline anyway), Mephiles tried to convince Shadow to join him to terrorize humanity, and Mephiles tried to trick Silver into causing the end of the world by killing Sonic
Honestly "The world ends with me" works better, because not only does it do everything you just mentioned, it also references a game called "The world ends with you"

Mephiles is so awsome. Almost like Shadow's twin. Only thing what scares me are his eyes (not crystal form) and that he hasen't got mouth (in crystal form doesn't have nose neither) but he speaks... Creepy... But he is awesome!
This is awesome. It's kind of interesting that, despite the enthusiastic tone in the original song, the actual lyrics are the kind you'd play for the villain, not the hero. And now, I can listen to the song as it would play for a nihilistic final boss.
I know, but the song, following the tradition of other Sonic end-boss themes, is actually centered on Sonic. Merlina's whole goal is that she doesn't want to accept that Camelot will come to an end one day, making her the person the singer is addressing, not actually the singer. So it's kind of interesting that the singer, Sonic, is talking about his "evil plans."

@ike6252 well it really depends on the song itself. using adobe audition 3, i can reduce or raise the volume of the mono sound (in this case, the vocals, bass guitar, and drums) and then i take that edit and put it into audacity where i can accurately sync the music

heres a nice little title: End the World with Me. suiting since killing Sonic essentially caused the end of the world (in the alternate timeline anyway), Mephiles tried to convince Shadow to join him to terrorize humanity, and Mephiles tried to trick Silver into causing the end of the world by killing Sonic
Honestly "The world ends with me" works better, because not only does it do everything you just mentioned, it also references a game called "The world ends with you"

Mephiles is so awsome. Almost like Shadow's twin. Only thing what scares me are his eyes (not crystal form) and that he hasen't got mouth (in crystal form doesn't have nose neither) but he speaks... Creepy... But he is awesome!

This is awesome. It's kind of interesting that, despite the enthusiastic tone in the original song, the actual lyrics are the kind you'd play for the villain, not the hero. And now, I can listen to the song as it would play for a nihilistic final boss.
Cataquack Warlord well, the song was the theme for Merlinas final form on Sonic and the Black Knight. Just to clear up
I know, but the song, following the tradition of other Sonic end-boss themes, is actually centered on Sonic. Merlina's whole goal is that she doesn't want to accept that Camelot will come to an end one day, making her the person the singer is addressing, not actually the singer. So it's kind of interesting that the singer, Sonic, is talking about his "evil plans."
Why do these mix so well?

also people make pictures of mephiles like he can't control beast mode aka crystal form when he was made evil anyway so like what the heck.
