Donald Lee - you have to understand that it's not always about the "technical" side of what Twinkie or any other organist is playing - it's the anointing that makes the difference brother. Ministering at your instrument is not meant to be a vehicle that you use to impress others. Twinkie just delivers at the organ in a way that has blessed so many for years. She puts her heart and soul into what she plays.
Enough said....anointing will top skill ANY day! You can be the MOST skilled, #1 person on your instrument, BUT if the anointing is lacking, why are you playing?
Soooooo so true. In this hour, we need organist that can drive the devil out and away. That only comes from a real life style of holiness and the anointing!
Amen Amen Amen these younger organist some of them get caught up in the big advance voicings and extensions in other words their chops and they forget about who there's servicing believe me it's the simple playing that Impresses
It’s like she’s cooking while on that organ. Started off with the prep. Then added heat. Cuz she sure is was and will always fire on the keys. Reason I call her #TWINKEY
What sets her apart from the rest is the GREAT price she has paid for that that "Rest, Rule, and Abides" on her its called "The Anointing." @MASTERSCRIBE ✒️
No disrespect at all! Yes Evg. Clark created the COGIC sound. However her playing exceeds COGIC to where other denominations and even secular artists take from her.
Cory Henry and Derrick Jackson are excellent, BUT we all had a bridge builder that we listened to and inspired us to become great. No one can ever take away the accomplishments or skills that Twinkie has, and what she has done.
The greatness of this is that her voice is equally as annointed as her fingers. She is a complete vessel, a true gift. Very few artists like her. Phenomenal!! Love her.
Wow!! This song truly meant something to Dr. Twinkie Clark, because while playing, she undeniably resurrected quite a few of her once forgotten chords, notes, squalls and techniques once played at many of the 70's and 80's Conventions, as she played under Dr. Mattie Moss Clark's direction.. WELL DONE
I was thinking of you as I watched this. I didn’t know that I would find a comment from you, but I’m not surprised. We often watched videos such as this while on the phone. I miss you every single day.
GO HEAD TWINKLE GO HEAD!!! love that 122 Leslie speaker with the original mechanical clicking relay. I'm surprised a solid state wasn't installed in the Leslie for the live recording.
Playyyyyy Twinkie.... I love hearing you play and I'm blessed so much during every opportunity that you give us to hear you. Please continue to minister through your sing, songwriting and playing of that organ for your ministry is so prophetic and anointed. Thank youuuuu!!!! : )
The churchy, gospel sound is founded in yesterday's Blues, which was heavily influenced by Jazz. You can't be church and gospel without using elements founded in jazz.
+Robert Jones Musicians left the church and went to the taverns therefore taking the sound of gospel to clubs, Ray Charles got slack all the time for that. Little Richard, Nat King Cole and even Thomas Dorsey. As far as I'm concern it all came from the church, and when you play a hymn it should be heartfelt unto GOD not all the Jazz and tricks just to impress other musicians, cause when your playing in a church setting you're playing to reach a soul, drawing the people's mind to get ready for the word of GOD to go forth🎹Amen
Ernest Enoch The cadences, progressions and melody lines that we consider 'churchy' originated in Blues. This is history, not my opinion.Yes, many singers and musicians left the church and went secular, but that's a different topic. Nat, Little Richard etc didn't bring hymns to secular music. I don't know what you mean by 'tricks', but there are jazzy progressions all throughout Gospel music. Just put on any James Hall album. There are also Classical influences. Just put on any Richard Smallwood album. I agree that there are many musicians who get caught up trying to impress other musicians. The heart of what we do is to create an atmosphere where people are open and their hearts are receptive to the move of God. But we're already using chords, runs and progressions we picked up from Jazz music. And you don't even know it.
Heard Many Great Organist do this Hymn....Just also hear the Queen of Baltimore MD Dr. Gloria Thompson work this hymn too...Dr. Twinkie-They are the absolute anointed and blessed of our time..Rev. Ernest E of Baltimore MD...
Now can anybody tell me what that organ did to Ms.Clark for her to do it like that??? I swear she put a HURTIN on that organ.. Smh and she made it look EASY
let look at the gifts what is before us God gave her the anointing and she uses well stop judging trying to find fault and be thankful she willing to share blessing with others may God continue to bless you and use you. Amen! ! ! !
This is why Twinkie is the Queen of the Hammond B3
she is such an amazing talent. And very humble.
Amen
Annointed

Say that!!! You hit it right on the head!

No disrespect, but the best in COGIC???? Forget that, the best organist period!!!!!!
Joe Sullivan Exactly
What sets her apart from the rest is the GREAT price she has paid for that that "Rest, Rule, and Abides" on her its called "The Anointing."
@MASTERSCRIBE ✒️
Well ALRT!!
OneWay Designs238 yes she is the best!
No disrespect at all! Yes Evg. Clark created the COGIC sound. However her playing exceeds COGIC to where other denominations and even secular artists take from her.
This is why I don't sleep at night during this pandemic. I have Twinkie / Clark Sister church all night long. Lol!!!
2:40-3:06 I’ve not heard #Twinkie play like that since the 70’s
AWESOME!!! Twinkie is second to NONE when it comes to the organ!!! Look at Larry in the back taking mental notes...lol.
I love the part where and 2:40 all the way to 3:06 Twinkie becomes dangerous and destructive and I love every bit
Like we say down south in NC... "YESSUH"!!!
Twinkie is still the best organist in the cogic to this day
@Daniel Flack that's a lie too. No anointing what so ever disqualifies him off the top.
Cory learned from twinkie's style, who did she emulate?
marlonmcgue she emulated Stevie Wonder. That’s how she introduced circle of fifth today called cycle to COGIC.
Glenn Gibson and Cory if he was doing church stuff
Best organist in COGIC still to this day hands down.
Hervin Balfour Twinkie is amazing don't get me wrong but Cory Henry? Derrick Jackson? I think they are better than Twinkie.
i mean she is the Queen of hammond b3 organ .
Cory Henry and Derrick Jackson are excellent, BUT we all had a bridge builder that we listened to and inspired us to become great. No one can ever take away the accomplishments or skills that Twinkie has, and what she has done.
Hervin Balfour Yes I agree 💯💯💯💯
The greatness of this is that her voice is equally as annointed as her fingers. She is a complete vessel, a true gift. Very few artists like her. Phenomenal!! Love her.

Ernest Enoch Gospel music is jazz and blues infused chording coupled with lyrics inspired by hymns. Study music and don't be ignorant
