The fact that in BW Cynthia's battle theme was raised one note higher. And in B2W2, it's pitch gets raised yet another note higher makes it all the more intimidating.

I played black white before any shinoh region game but I knew who cynthia was(always simping for her) but after that unfortunate battle in black and white damn bro I didn't knew she was a monster I got wiped 3 to 4 times.

I personally stumbled upon her by accident. My battle with her was even more memorable as I came into that game after having beaten platinum a month before, I did what anyone who could did and sent over all my pokemon after beating the game, so my pokemon remain a culmination of my journey across all generations I played, and continue to do so, this created a problem though, I run into her and my first reaction is "Oh no, oh god no" only for her to say my eyes are familiar, making me realize that platinum did indeed happen, I fought her and realized immediately my time paradox causing mistake, I had Giratina Origin form in my party, which I was forced to use. After the battle she said I reminded her of the trainer who faced Giratina, and that line had far more impact for me personally, because I just used the same Giratina that trainer faced against her, because it was me. That was my favorite moment in all of pokemon, and it really made me realize that as the player, you really are an anomaly, having a journey across every region with experience and friends made across many generations.

I remember meeting her thinking, "Oh cool the previous champion."
Then remembering, "Oh no, it's the previous champion" once the theme kicked up.
Thankfully, I had a few 80s on my team then before facing her, so it was a fairly closer battle than all my previous matches.

The devs giving her braviary and glaceon: we gotta give them a bit of a chance
Jokes aside, at least she doesn't battle you automatically upon walking in XD you at least get to prepare

The exclamation mark appearing on top of her head is enough to make me shit my pants. Cynthia is known for being one of the strongest trainer of all time and the games hard-wired you to expect a fight because of the exclamation mark.
This is even scarier when you are running a post-game nuzlocke.
Braviary isn't that bad, neither is Glaceon.

One thing you forgot to point out, and the thing I absolutely love about her appearance in gen 5 is the continuity. She's no longer referred to as "Champion Cynthia" but simply "Pokemon Trainer Cynthia" the trainer she was mentioning kicked her ass
If BW remakes is a thing, somehow i have a feeling that GameFreak will troll us by placing Cynthia in different place in Undella Town, just to make that nostalgic feeling of terrifying surprise once again 😂

I remember finding Cynthia in B/W the first time: I've never completed D/P/P, but always heard the rumblings about the most feared trainer in Pokemon Cannon. Next thing you know, I'm exploring Undella post game, kicking the dirt and *BOOM!* I peed my pants, got wiped withing 10 turns and vowed never to walk into that house *EVER AGAIN!*

I didn't play Gen 4. So it was even more surprising for me when I ran into this trainer in Undella Town that absolutely destroyed my team.
That was basically my reaction when I first battled Red in HGSS as my first Pokémon game ever

Cynthia reminds you the breaking into someone's house without permission is sometimes a bad idea
It is my personal lore that pokemons like glaceon or braviary are for comfort or to be at vacations (ice in the beach or to travel without being recognized) and as she isnt a "champion" (vacations) she doesnt need to have her fighting team, so those pokemons could help her in other ways with their moves or to convince people she isnt a champion just looks like her as cynthia doesnt have those pokemons.
By BW/B2W2 she is not the champion anymore though ,lucas/dawn takes that place
Another interesting thing for the undella town cynthia fight is that if you brought a giratina, altered or origin form, from gen 4 and bring it out to fight. Cynthia would be in shock from you possessing it and question who you are. It's those unique interactions with important npc fights that were cool.

@@popcornchicken1146 Well, I could try to do that again and get a proper recording of it. I would have to find an emulator method for transferring though since I traded off my cartridges at some point by gen 6. I wouldnt be surprised if it was unheard of since gen 4 to gen 5 transfer is convoluted and expensive with the two ds requirement. Generating was hit or miss to since hex data on a hacked Mon was weird and most unique npc dialogue was tied to move usage and types not pokemon.

i never completed my Pearl game so meeting her in Undella town was a 100% shock to me. I had no idea who she was and she SWEEPS my team from an out of the blue encounter. It made me train up to go back and beat her and now she's my favorite champion.
I had gotten to her in Diamond but 5 year old me couldn't beat her. Was a shcok seeing her in BW to say the least, but at least I beat her for the first time there.
I legit threw my DS when I saw her in Undella town, for context I had recently finished a pokemon platinum nuzlocke where her garchomp wiped nearly my whole team save for my Onix that I had on the team because I was running low on good pokemon
as someone whose only experience in pokemon was emerald and I never even got to Gym 4 there, I played BnW back then with no much knowledge and entering this room I thought oh this is a random new character just for your post game experience

Stumbling upon Cynthia without having been spoiled was actually a great surprise when I first played through my Pkmn White. When you always make a strong playthrough team, you kinda stomp all the basic trainers you run into. Running into Cynthia and getting a random champion-level challenge basically turned overworld exploration on its head and breathed new air into exploration. A+ move by the game developers.
I don't know how I beat her first time. She's merciless.
Mind you: I forgot to save. I HAD to win.

White was my first ever Pokémon game, so I didn’t know who she was when I first saw her. I DO remember being really confused why there was just a random trainer in Undella Town that had such a crazy strong team with not many Unovan Pokémon

That battle completely caught me off guard and my highest level was 63 and I got destroyed by her team and just starred at the screen as to what just happened as that was the most one-sided match I was ever on where I was severely under-levelled
I remember walking in once. Upon remembering Cynthia from the previous game I started freaking out because I didn’t save before the battle not knowing of her presence. I got destroyed like all of us.
Isn't Cynthia hot in that dress though? Sure it's appropriate in Sinnoh, when the weather is always cold, but in a place like Unova, I imagine the summer would get a bit warm even if the rest of the year is cool

I love how most people had trouble with Cynthia, but I was usually able to beat her pretty easily since her Spiritomb would spam double team, so I would have serperior spam coil. So the leads blades hit like a truck,did neutral damage to garchomp and serperior was faster than everyone
I still remember Lucahjin's panic in this moment and the ptsd she went through playing through Platinum later.
I nearly screamed when I saw her in Undella the first time. The moment I heard that music, the flashbacks started kicking in.
You made a mistake saying we can challenge Cynthia during summer; actually, she travels to Unova every spring, at least in BW2.
The idea of the Elite 4 and Champion going on spring break makes me very happy for some reason
I think when Cynthia was talking about seeing the Trainer's eyes before, I feel like it was a metaphorical nod to the player.
Like we know who Cynthia is and what she's capable of. We've battled Cynthia before. We as the player, is only but, the trainer spirit that controls the character we use in which Cynthia seems to be familiar with. She's familiar with "us" as the spirit who faced her as Lucas/Dawn. She was able to feel that same presence of true potential coming from us even though we aren't Lucas/Dawn but Hilbert/Hilda, two whole separate people from two whole different regions. The eyes she's rally talking about are the eyes that are peering into the DS, our own eyes. The eyes behind the avatar player.
I just... imagine if you open this house in a gen 5 remake and no one's in there, but then you turn around and the piano starts playing "What are you doing in my house?"

what’s funny is that cynthia’s battle theme in bw/2 is that it goes up a half step in key kind of like how the gym leader and elite four theme from dppl does; then it shifts up another half step for her pwt theme as if going even further beyond that
I forgot she had level 75's, and came over to her hot off the heels of my beating the main game.
I made a terrible mistake. I actually did manage to defeat spiritomb, but then failed miserably to do anything else.
I'm pretty sure that was literally the first thing I did when I went into Undella town. Turned, walked in there, and got my half dead team cleaned up. Cynthia's used to cleaning up she did a great job. I went back after and did better, but yea, don't mess with the true champ.
I never finished Gen 4, but I did finish Gen 5 and I found her. I didn't remember her so to me she wasn't scary when I met her and obviously got destroyed by her in the first battle since she was much higher level and I wasn't even familiar with her team. I like to think of her as being so disappointed with never challenging her so she hopped onto the next gen just to beat me in Pokemon.

Pokemon White for me was actually where I started in the series. So I remember when I went into this house out of curiosity as a kid, I of course didn’t know who was in there, like many others. But even after seeing her, I did not recognize her. She even kept it a bit of a mystery, never once actually bringing up where she’s from or the fact that she’s a champion.
So she challenged me to a pokemon battle, and I didn’t find it too odd. I was a little surprised, but didn’t really find it too out of place for this game. When the music started playing, I did notice it was different, and that’s what started telling me: this trainer is different.
But okay, cool. This random pretty NPC has some music of her own. I’ve already taken down Team Plasma, beat N after he toppled the pokemon league. Surely, with Zekrom on my team, I could take her, right?
I notice her pokemon are at such a high level, as mentioned here in the video. I realize I’m at a considerable disadvantage, but being the kid I was, I didn’t care, and again, was only a little surprised.
Two minutes later I’m back at the pokemon center with the world’s biggest surprised pikachu face wondering what the heck just happened.
AND THEN I TRIED AGAIN RIGHT AWAY
I don’t know how I beat her many tries after that, but she was downright scary. I’d not felt quite so nervous throughout the entire main story of the game as when I kept walking up to her to try again and again. When I played W2, I knew one thing for certain: avoid that house until you’re at least at her level like your life depends on it, because worse, your pokemon’s lives depend on it.

I remember doing that... I had a crap team when I walked in that house because I was trying to level up some new ones. I shut the game off as soon as I realized the battle was not optional. Lost a lot of post game progress which sucked but I panicked cuz I knew I was about to be curb stomped.

Honestly, yeah it is just really satisfying to see people from older games and it's just really nice to see Pokémon look into this therefore putting more emphasis on lore and overall detail.
The one time I actually tried to explore in an optional town in a Pokémon game that wasn’t required for story progress, and it scarred me for a good few months.

I loved this! I just love the fact that they brought Caitlin back too and the Villa you find Cythia in is Caitlin's! My first reaction when seeing Caitlin reappear for the elite 4 was a huge smile of excitement since she was one of my fav Frontier Brains(even tho you didn't actually fight her in the Battle Frontier)
I like how Caitlin mentions before you fight her as an Elite 4 member that she used to be more temperamental, before learning how to control her impulses and her psychic powers.
She's one of my fave Elite Four members besides Shauna and Grimsley, mostly because we share the same name. Except I have an "YN," instead of an "I N."

Glaceon doesn't need to be good in battle to be the best eeveelution.
In pokemon conquest its good because of the amount of dragons in the game, nobunaga for example only use dragons, so if you want to to have some advantage against his zekrom or shiny rayquaza(yep, the guy owns 2 legendaries) glaceon is a good pokemon.

My first Pokémon game being platinum, which is my second favourite to this day after bw, when I discovered this on complete accident on my first play through I was fucking terrified. The trauma from my first encounter made it feel like a jumpscare and I lost 3 times before I beat her which was difficult since she was 2 of the about 4 or 5 times I whiteouted out in that play through. It’s the things like this that make me love Pokémon to this day
White Vers. Was my introduction to the Pokémon games, I did watch the anime when I could But that wasn't often, so I had no idea who Cynthia was. I just saw a sprite that was different from the rest and talked to her only to get my team absolutely stomped.
I just said "Fuck" and loaded my last save
I remember when I decided to play the games before the EN version was released.
Seeing Cynthia gave me PTSD flashbacks. To top it all off, I forgot which button was "Yes" and which one was "No". Since the whole game was in Japanese LOL.

I was 12 and I entered that room, I was like "WTF IS SHE DOING HERE" AND I KEPT PRESSING THE A BUTTON AND ACCEPTED THE DAMN FIGHT WITH HALF TEAM DEAD AND THE LAST SAVING POINT IN WHITE CITY. And I lost of course , how can I ever forget... Fucking battle at the worst time possible, but man that made it one of the few truly engaging battle of B/W.

When I did this hwen I was 7, I actually screamed: OH SHIT IM GONNA DIE
When I first encountered her in that house I thought she was just talking to say high and everything. I was kind of Spamming A and reading at the speed of an anime sub reader usually does. I saw something that resembled a battle question, a yes and no option popped up, and immediately pressing Yes. I didn't realize my actions until I heard the theme and I got scared. My team wasn't fully healed up and I was on a 3 hour playing time with no saves. I considered exiting out, not wanting to battle considering she would be my first loss in the entire game so far. I was unprepared by this and I decided to just take the loss. I survived one pokemon longer than I thought but she brought fear to my heart for the first time that game.
Addition: it's been so long since that battle that I actually can't remember if there was a yes and no option, i think there was but now that i think about it there may have not been one which is why i was also upset at the battle. All I was doing was Spamming A and reading as fast as I can. So I could've just went past it. I do remember dying to her tho.

Fun fact, the BPM of her pre battle theme is how fast your heart is beating.
During battle, the theme is only just under half of your beating heart.
Bruh i still remember Coil sweeping with my Serperior after sacrificing 3 mons just to heal it up and use a couple leppa berries. Shit caught me so off guard lmao.

I remember puttering around here with a team full of dinky little pokemon I was training up at around levels 5-10 and one member of my main team to do a little switch training. I think I entirely shit myself when I encountered Cynthia and got completely and utterly squashed that first battle. Fun times

I still remember walking into this house looking for items lol.
They should have made the battle mandatory (regardless of your level or team), but losing wouldn't cost you any money or send you to a Poke Center. Heck even if there's some sort of internal counter that keeps track of your losses, it shouldn't tick down.
But knowing you lost to her.....that's its own punishment.

If her glaceon had hail and blizzard, if you didn't OHKO it if you were slower (or 2HKO if you were faster), that would have been a nightmare, setting up hail turn 1 only to hit you with a 100% accuracy blizzard and increased evasion because of its snow cloak ability.
