  • In this video I make the hull of the HMS Victory 1765 in Blender by using a instruction booklet for a real wooden model. Do anybody know what a plank termination pattern is? Asking for a friend.
Link to all parts and instruction booklet, really only have to use the Parts.pdf and hull.pdf:

    Really nice job!
Im working on a pirate/sailing MMO with a small team, and we would love to get in touch!

@user-ez7ls2du9c That sounds really interesting. Sadly I'm a bit rusty, but perhaps you could give some details and if I like it I will gladly join. If you could send your discord name perhaps?

Could you tell me where I can find reference images for 3D modeling of ships, my friend? I've been researching, but I can't seem to find any.

@user-wi2cg7st1m Just search for ship blueprints. It will be easier to find coherent references if you are looking for a specific ship, for example HMS Victory. Pinterest is a great source. If you are lucky, as I was, you might find a pdf for a wood modelling kit, where you get references for each individual part. Good look with your modelling journey and feel free to ask as many questions you want to.

Hello! Amazing build, I have just started building ships and have made the HMS Cheerful, I’m planning on making a frigate next however I have no clue how to make a stern galley, it’s really been burning my brain, could you maybe help me a little bit? Like just teach me a simple way to make the stern galley, thanks anyways!

The quarter gallery is a quite complicated piece. However, it can be modelled relatively easily with subsurface modeling and later re-topologized. There is no shortcut, so it will take time and most likely look like trash for a couple of iterations before you are happy with it. Good luck!

would you have any interest in modeling a few custom pirate ships?

How do people learn how to model like this? I don't even know how to find half of the tools that he used 😅.

Lots of time and practice. Just put in the hours, do what you enjoy and you'll be there in no time :)

I wish you would have slowed it down. I had to stop watching because it was just too fast. Good job in sharing the files.

You could have saved your self a ton of time if you would have used nurbs for the hull.

Thanks, I was not aware of nurbs until now, incredibly powerful.

@@helmutproductions If you happen to model any ship hulls with nurbs be sure to post a video I would really like to see that.
