Hey Scott from US. I really like this bike a lot, it’s a great bike for the money and that seat is really about the proportions that make it aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The block seat just ties in with the rest of the lines. The other bike in this price range with mention, is the Aprilla Tuno 660 which was made for a different riding position than the RS version. At 10495 it’s pretty sweet.

I'm not keen on the seat, although I don't hate it like I used to. Overall, it looks fantastic. I have a 2011 MT-01: the rear seat peg set-up is just like on this bike. I also have a 2006 Buell XB12X: the exhaust is tucked under the bike, rather like the MT-09, and is actually a jacking point. Very few ideas are new.
I'm really coming round to liking the 09. Great colour scheme. Shame you didn't get to ride it as I want to know whether it has as much low-down shove as the XSR700 as I live in two countries. The aforemantioned two bikes are in Portugal. I want a bigger bike than my KTM 390 Duke for Thailand.

Hi, thanks so much glad you are enjoying the channel. I actually love the seat! Looks are so subjective to each individual. This engine is the CP3 triple used in many Yamaha models, a brilliant motor and great upgrade from the 700. As for low down torque, the parallel twin does have nice torque, but this triple is nicer.

You forgot to mention the world's smallest TFT dash at a tiny 3.5 inches. Penny pinching at it's worst I'm afraid. Many have complained that some info is way too small to read. Come on Yamaha. Fit the 4.2 inch screen from the MT10. And even that is on the small side compared to the competition. Yamaha need to sort this out. Otherwise a pretty good looking bike but I would junk the seat unit and fit a colour matched pro- am style bikini fairing. Love the 80's inspired Sarron/Gauloises blue racing colours. The Kawasaki Z900 rs is classier looking with a significantly better level of fit and finish but for the price the Yam is a bargain.
