As a neutral supporter I was hoping for some close and exciting games this finals series. The average margin so far has been 39.5 points and that's despite two different one point games.
Here's hoping for a memorable Grand Final and not a flogging where one team gives up shortly into the third quarter.
These two have been clearly the best over the full season. Both not great favourites of the AFL and have fought tough drawers, travel, the mrp and the umpires. Whoever wins deserves it and it’s great that it’s a classic 50/50. Usually the two preliminary finals are footballs best showcase. This years margins show how much better than the rest these two are.
If your team is in it you don't want a close one. You want a win!!! And by heaps if possible.

Bulldogs: Finished outside Top 4, five states in 14 days, all the quarantine rules, including limited training. Had to travel to Adelaide, Port home ground and crowd.

Port had been around the top for a bit and have won nothing. I’m not trying to argue but this is just my point of view

Led from start to finish. Dogs gameplan completely outsmarted Port, keep the ball away from Allir Aliir when going inside 50 and play old school attacking footy. Port were stunned as soon as the game began, although their tackling pressure was good the rest of their game was restricted. I think Melbourne are in a bit of trouble now because the Doggies have been there and done it before. First 5th placed team to make a GF since 1998.

After the past two years I don't wanna hear anything about how interstate teams are always at a disadvantage having to travel and play the GF at the MCG. The Covid situation gives them every advantage (especially with the amount of travel and quarantine the Vic teams are doing) and yet we get two grand finals in a row between Victorian teams. Interstate teams were at least consistently making GF's pre pandemic.

It’s beautiful isn’t it; two of the luckiest teams in the AFL, Geelong and Port, got absolutely ripped to pieces by arguably two of the unluckiest teams in the AFL, when it counted most, in the same weekend. You love to see it. Satisfying.
Also satisfying seeing Richmond with a premiership hangover.

@Hugs Bunny I wouldn’t call that luck, that’s just support. Why would the AFL let a team die in this modern era? 57 of pure pain is also the furthest thing from luck. Modern day Geelong on the other hand are one of the luckiest teams in the home and away season, since they seemingly always get away with close games where they’ll get an arsey mark, goal, or lucky free kick at a crucial moment in a game. Fortunately they use up all their luck by the time the finals come, and we see the real Geelong who buckle under the relentless pressure of finals.

Very mediocre performance from Port tonight, didn’t look like they wanted to be there for even 5 minutes. Very sad. Very embarrassing, almost as embarrassing as Geelong getting smashed by Melbourne and almost as embarrassing as Chokemond finishing below Fremantle. Line up for the GF looks really good and congrats to both teams for showing up and putting in the effort, well deserved.
