Same here. He had very little of the surrounding cast in his career, especially on defense. He did outstanding with what he DID have, sure, he tended to choke at the worst possible times, but I partly put that on him pushing himself, thinking " I'm going to have to do most of this by myself, aren't I?" When athletes push themselves, they tend to screw up more than perform well. My foster father(May God rest his soul) told me one of the best tools of efficiency is not doing too much, only what you know you can do. And Romo knew this. But having what he did around him made him try too hard. Take Tom Brady. He understands that he can only do certain things and does not push himself, even though he doesn't have what you might call a great surrounding cast. That's one reason Brady has been so good for so long
TaoDraxis Brady has had a great supporting cast. He didn't have to carry his team. If Romo didn't make a play than nobody would until 2014 with that oline
His best chance was early in his career. He had very good to borderline elite teams from 2006-09, but he was still a young and developing QB. It seemed like the better he got, the worse the team around him became. In retrospect, even the 2014 team was not that great tbh. The defense was bend-don't-break and was okay, the receivers (other than Dez) were okay, Witten was decent. Romo, Murray and Dez carried them. Now this team, with Cooper, Gallup, Cobb, Elliot on offense, and (potentially) a top defense, this might be the best all-around group since those 2000s teams. Just came a few years too late for Tony unfortantely.
There’s something about a win by 2 or fewer points that really gets me happy, but a loss by 2 or fewer points drives me nuts. Glad the defense made 7 points enough for them to win.
ive been a Cowboys fan since '78 and my 2 favorite players of all time have been Novachek and Witten. Lets hope a few years from now [9/2019] i can add Jarwin to the list.
Romo made all of those receivers by extending plays for 5 seconds or more. Witten is HOF, Austin, Hurd, Crayton, Holley, Bryant, etc, etc, etc all became name players because of Romo. He had a few RBs but only a few to really speak of. Barber and Murray being at the top. The coaches let him go in the 4th because he saw more than they did on the field.
I remember being at this game and Romo actually was the main reason I became a die hard Cowboys fan. Tony was just so electric and fun to watch. He was phenomenal QB always thought he was unjustly criticized when he carried this team for most of his career with little help from the defense or run game. Great comeback one of many for #9.
You can! If you do not have a Dallas cowboys radio affiliate in your area you can download the cowboys app and listen to the broadcast on the app anywhere in the world!! I highly recommend it, it is entirely different listening to Brad, Babe and Kristie call the games instead of the national broadcast.
Does the audio match up with the tv broadcast? If I could watch the tv broadcast and some way set up my speakers to play the Cowboys broadcasters that would be nice.
Almost never. I don't mind it though. Its usually ahead of the tv broadcast via cable or directv but behind if you watch through an antenna. Talking about 2 or 3 seconds.
A few false start penalties is what you are holding against him. I loved jay novacek. The team had great success with him but he would be Jason Witten's backup if they played on the same team. He is an all timer.
I wish Romo could've had won a ring

Greico Rolle he can always win one as a coach
They never gave him a defense. He was such a competitor.

Was never more happy to win 7-6 in my life. Seriously, we STUNK for like 55 minutes until that final drive.

Packers fan here, so naturally biased towards Wayne Larrivee and Larry McCarren, but Brad and Babe can hold their own. They do a pretty damn good job.

alwaysopen I think Clayton was overrated dude kinda cost us the 07 divisional game against the giants

Romo Written and Free are the OGs
Wish I could watch games with Brad calling them.

Are you talking about the NFL Audio Pass ?
No, just go to dallascowboys.com and download the app! They stream the broadcast during the game on the app.

He can still play, we need him back!!!
romo spin for the win
this was the year cowboys finally won a playoff game. Austin, free. hurd. these guys was great
Not Really
My God I miss Romo and Witten!
Damm if Tony had the players around him we have around Dak..wow just imagine
Only game I’ve ever gone to it was the Sunday before Thanksgiving. I couldn’t believe that score! 7-6! But we won!
Nice drive but the only question I have is what on earth were they doing the first 3 and a half quarters?
The redskins played great defense and Romo took a knee to the back from Rocky Mcintosh. He wasn't right most of the game.
***** All right thx. I just started following the NFL two years ago. Hopefully Romo can stay fit next season :)
ahhh yes, okay, that part jogged this Cowboy fan's memory.
They did a lot of that in those years. I remember they went through a stretch when it seemed it was impossible to get the ball to a WR.
You got us. At least 7 points was enough to win.
I frkn love you Romo
Witten gets credit for being the best Tight End ever for the Cowboys but I just can't remember seeing Jay Novacek ever get a false start penalty.

Jason witten is legit the number 2 TE of all time, only because of Tony G.
Well that changes everything. It makes Novacek better than Witten, I suppose.
teejay Trujillo novacek was clutch
Novacek the Best. With the Rings to prove it.😎
I miss Tony.... he should have a ring
God I Miss Him!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS A KILLER VIDEO OF MY DALLAS COWBOYS!!!!! I DEE U BOYS!!
Are you kidding me!?? The BOYS were about to be shut out and in their own house!!! WTF!!
How did he get away from Orakpo on the game winner?
I might add that we had somewhat of an easier time vs them a month later
Patrick Crayton stayed in Dallas too long. He should have been cut way earlier than that.
IRIE4IPIER Crayton was a no show in big moments. Also, gunna argue, show some respect to the other person. You lost the argument when you did that.
IRIE4IPIER From this team? Witten, Barber, T Newman, D Ware, Romo, Keith Brooking, Tashard Choice. Dare I keep going?
Flynt Coal I was a huge crayton fan
Billy Joe i wasn't
Billy Joe I was a Miles Austin fan before he got that huge break in KC
What ever happened to "Smiles Austin?"🤔🤔🤔🤔
