      Thank you Rob. And thank you for the super thanks. I am planning on making a video on using a GPS with ETHOS. But to be honest, the LUA scripts that I've seen at the moment aren't great. I'm hoping Yaapu's mapping widget is ported over to ETHOS in the future. As that blows what's currently available away.

    Darren, thanks for this video. I swapped out an R6 in my Funjet Ultra (with delta mix) and configured/installed an S6R and couldn’t understand why it wasn’t working right, until I stumbled upon this video. Essentially, the elevon mix is in the receiver and all works after selecting delta type in the SXR script in Ethos per your video, so everything is working now…control deflections and corrections in both auto level and stabilize. One question, do you only have to perform the self test once (after installing in the model)? I did that after confirming both wings were perfectly level, and the fuselage as level as possible also (eyeballing it). Also, after I’ve flown/trimmed the model in manual mode, will that affect the self test calibration (will I have to perform self test again)? Thanks for your videos…going to contribute on Patreon.

      You're welcome Craig, I'm glad the video helped. To be honest, I don't know the official answer to that. All I can say is that I've not done anything after trimming with my models and they seem fine.

    Hi Daren. Works just fine as you described. But. I'm unable to get this mix to work with "Canards".

    • @MrD
      @MrD 2 года назад

      Hi Frank. This is only a basic gyro, so not made for exotic mixes. But if the canards are just one function (elevator for example) and the wing control surfaces are just ailerons (in that example). Then it should work with a standard plane setup.

      Honestly, I wouldn’t like to say. I have no experience at all with Helis. There are no rotary wing settings on this receiver. Only fixed wing.

  • @2.4g-rc

    Looking for some guidance. I have set this all up. Most things work. The gyro compensates for left and right roll, but when it compensates for up/down they move in the wrong direction. I have tried to change the direction of Elev in the Lua script page but then one ailreon moves up and the other one down. I tried to reverse them in the outputs and it made no difference.

    Another great video Darren, thanks. One little hitch for me though. I'm setting up an SR6 for an Extreme Flight Outlaw delta, which DOES have a rudder. I've set the wing type as you explain, but with a Rudder on channel 4. Everything works as you show, plus the rudder, with SXR disabled. All works as it should with SXR enabled except there is no rudder. Any ideas please?

    • @MrD
      @MrD 2 года назад

      It sounds like that wing type does not support rudder. So the stabilisation doesn’t work. I can try to confirm with FrSky.

    Do you have to use the gain knob like in your other video? if you don't setup gain knob does the RX use the numbers shown in the Lua?

    • @MrD
      @MrD 2 года назад

      Yes, you should still add the gain and self test switches, as well as perform the self test operation. I kept this video all about the mixer and wing type. I did mention it in the video, but I've added a note in the description to make it clear.
      You could not use the gain pot, and set the gains in the LUA. But, I like having the gain so that there's some adjustment for different wind conditions.

    Hey, i followed this and the how to setup sxr guide and everything works fine, testament to your great tutorials. - except my flying wing comes with 2 rudders (Flex innovations pirana).
    I have setup a FreeMixer, input is Rudder and set the ouput to chan 4 + 5, also put rudders in chan 4 + 5. When i checked nothing moved.
    On the Outputs screen of the Transmitter i can see that the output should be there.
    Any advice?

    • @MrD
      @MrD Год назад

      Unfortunately stabilised rudders are not supported with an elevon setup on these stabilised receivers. All you could do is output on a regular channel. I would leave channel 4 alone. But 5 & 6 should work fine. You will need to set AUX Enabled on channels 5 and 6 in the SxR Configuration Tool.

    • @trolltv3722

      @@MrD Hey, thanks for the info. I wasn't looking to have them stabilised, just in working order would be fine.
      I'll try plugging them into chan 5+6 and adjust my mixer, with aux channels.

      By default, the SxR receivers uses channels 5 & 6 for aileron 2 and elevator 2 respectively. To use it for a different function, you need to set it in the tool. After that, they should work 👍🏻

    I should have added the following. The setup you described is straight forward. So. Instead of selecting "One" aileron and "One" elevator, with a rudder. I selected "Two" ailerons and "Two" elevators . Shouldn't be anymore difficult than that. Plug in the "four" servos to their respective pins and it should work. No. It does not. Only "Three" of the "Four" servos function properly when the selected wing type is "Delta". Suggestions ?

    • @MrD
      @MrD 2 года назад

      I've never tried this to be honest, so don't know if it's possible. I would imagine yo would have left elevon in Ch1, right elevon in Ch2, left canard in Ch5 and right canard in Ch6. The AUX 1 and AUX2 would need to be set to disabled. That's how I'd probably try and set it up. I also don't think you need to send the other aileron and elevator over the air. I think it mixes in the receiver after trying the elevon setup.

      2. On the bench, what happens with the plane in self level.
      a) do the control surfaces stay flat until you move the plane?
      b) when you move the plane, do the surfaces correct in the right direction?
