@@thenewmodfather ah, my apologies. I read it ask you'd met the real and making a comparison. Yes, you've heard correctly. I watched him blank a bicycle courier moments before, too. Never ask Mr Jason for an autograph. He'll tell you he "doesn't do that sort of thing".
I think that was part of the joke (if this was a recent episode) because Les Dennis is going to be playing Grandad in the musical show that's currently running. If it was an old episode then clear it was a piss poor effort 😂😂
This is over 20 years old and Les Dennis' impression actually sounded like Grandad and if, as I don't know, he was cast as Grandad in something then I'm sure it dates back to this, as with a little coaching he'd be spot on. The Del Boy impersonator was absolutely amazing.
Les's impression of 'Rodney Trotter' isn't the best, mind you though, he's now playing the role of both 'Grandad/Uncle Albert' in 'Only Fools And Horses The Musical' currently in London's West End at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM IN IT!
Great Del Boy impression but who the hell was Les trying to be?? I'd forgotten how bad he was at impressions, I saw a clip from the TV show he used to do with Dustin Gee. Their impressions were so bad they had to announce who it was before they did it.
Showing Les Dennis how it's done. How does anyone think Les Dennis is any good at impersonating stars. He is rubbish. Always was. He was just lucky enough to be partnered with Dustin Gee all those years ago. Just like Sid Little, who was lucky to have had Eddie Large. Nice one Del Boy lookalike though. That was pure luvly Jubbly.
@@mikewilson714 was he though. Or was it just the fact he was lucky enough to be guided by Ricky Gervais. He started his career in showbiz as an impressionist, and yet everyone he tried to take off sounded nothing like who he was trying to do. That clip from family fortunes is a good example. Like the Del Boy lookalike said, Grandad, Uncle Albert, or whoever you are meant to be! It sums him up.
@@rmstitanic8163 well yes, Gervais was a commanding factor in that episode and Les was great to go along with what he was trying to put across to the viewer... lots of Mavis and Family Fortunes anecdotes that we've all heard before. Not as good as Keith Chegwin's queer-hating turn in another episode, but I enjoyed watching Les send himself up. And in the FF clip here, I'm sure Canham was winding him up with the impression Led did. No one could seriously mistake a Rodney impression from a grandad one, no matter how bad it was! I think Canham was trying to get a few laughs for himself by being a little sarcastic, just as Del himself might have done! Maybe I'm completely wrong but I just found Les' performance funny enough to watch it again and again, especially as he's starkers and begins drying himself right in front of Gervais, who has to play with a switch on the wall to avoid making any eye contact! 😂
@@mikewilson714 I agree with you. That is funny. But i think it's funny because of Ricky's reaction to Les being naked. I give him one thing. The fact that he was naked and not in the best of shape at that time. But talking about Extras. My favourite was the episode with Patrick Stewart and his fixation of seeing naked women. His new film and he has a mind power to make things happen, and mostly it's about women losing their clothes and he keeps saying, I've seen everything. It's too late to cover up, because I've seen it all. 🤣 Now that is funny. When you consider that he is generally a serious actor, his straight acting as a sex maniac is brilliant.
@@rmstitanic8163 I couldn't agree more! The Patrick Stewart and the Ian McKellen episodes are two of my favourites! And watching them in The Art of Corpsing featurette is just as hysterical, including Keith Chegwin and his Cheggars Plays Cock line!
Meh, he's ok I guess. I mean he's just putting on a generic Cockney accent and throwing out some of Del's phrases. His physical movements are pretty good though. But if he can make a few quid from it, more power to him.
What is everybody on about he's not a great del boy. I think people are over complementing here. Putting a cap on and saying dell boy's lines don't make you a great del boy.

The irony being that Les Dennis is going to be portraying Granddad in the musical version of only fools and horses.
