@54:00 i would have swapped the two two sized tiles on the island in the corner In that way you could have placed the big green jacket where the U shaped blue tools are. The blue tools you could have then placed above the green tile on your main board surrounding the mead, or you could have surrounded the ore on the middle left on your main bord so you could keep the crafting going with the ore.
After thoroughly enjoying this I played my own and explored 4 islands, which I had never done, and got a personal best high score (only 110, but I’ll take it!)
Oh wow, I don't think I've gone for all 4 islands yet, that'll have to be my next goal :D thanks for joining in Susannah and helping me remember everything!
@@slickerdrips Well, thanks for playing this and making my day. I mostly play solo, so it's fun to find others who are as excited about this game as I am. Once I saw you get 3 islands I was completely inspired (I've only ever gotten 2 at most), and then I drew a fantastic Occupation card for that approach -- 179b: Seafarer: during score, if you then have 2/3/4 exploration boards in front of you, you receive 4/9/16 silver, respectively.
Watching an old playthrough as I did my first Norwegians playthrough yesterday and got horrible AP and abysmal 50 points :D I had to come see how it's done.
@@slickerdrips I always focus too much on the home board... It feels WRONG not to fill it, but like you showed, you still score high even when ignoring it most of the time.
Don’t you have to take a specific action to go exploring and to claim and island? Not just by building the necessary boat alone? Sorry if this is addressed during the live stream...am watching after the fact.
unless i am mistaken, it looked to me like you built the whaling boat and then claimed the island without taking the additional exploration action. But hey, i get excited too. Again, I may have missed you taking the additional action do apologies if i did. Great playthrough so far....still watching
17:47 It was the action to buy a boat with wood. It does not also give you an exploration board, but Tom also put down a viking off screen in the correct manner so all good :)
Thanks
I enjoyed that refresher
Now I’m keen to go back and play this again!
One of my top 10 games.
Great playthrough. I'm really enjoying the content. Keep it up.
Thanks Chris, glad you're enjoying it :)

Well spotted, much better move 🙂
Sorry I missed this live, but hooray for RUclips replays!
on 1:19:30 could you use a wood to improve on fishing? wondering because there is no wood symbol in the action space, unlike Hunting Game and Whaling
You are correct. Wood isn't listed on the space so you can't use it for fishing.

I hope I helped! There's so much choice, it's easy to get lost :D

Nice job!
Thanks Michael!
In solo the second color starts with one less meeple. Did you forget to leave one in the bag?
Yup :( but on the bright side, that means I should do another Odin stream, right? Any excuse :)
Nice playthrough. A lot of islands nice. Did you know the big coins stack is a stack of 10 not 8 :D.
I realised towards the end :D I was treating them as 8s to get change though I think so it shouldn't have made a difference

You absolutely do, did I skip that? It's quite probable I got too excited :D

Or did you pay money to buy the boat? Buying a boat with money doesn’t require you to use an action.
