    Sir, a doubt.
    Since there is water below the phreatic line, there might be capillary action present. In that case, the soil above the p-line may be partially or fully saturated. Since capillary action means that water is not being added externally, so 'soil above the p-line is unsaturated' might be a wrong statement.
    Please clarify Sir

      Unsaturated soil doesn't mean dry soil.
