@@Isaac-mk3wj no it wasn’t the Knicks just didn’t wanna pay him that much money. paying that much would’ve been ridiculous cause he showed he just wasn’t like that. he was a very good and imo underrated role player but after his breakout month he ended up getting injured and the next season the nba had a scouting report on him and essentially had him figured out. he was never the kind of player that could be a cornerstone to a franchise, he was an above average role player that was given a rare opportunity and got hot during it.

There's a famous saying among soccer fans, "The streets won't forget." I guess that encapsulates all of this one-hit wonders stories pretty well. Yes their performance maybe gone downhill ever since, players come and go for the team, but we, the fans, will always remember the time when they were at the top of the game. Hundreds or maybe even thousands of children were captivated by that moments and probably started playing the sports, even idolizing them. It was magical, and while the magic won't last for long, the memories certainly will. The streets won't forget.

Linsanity gave so much wholesome feels for the world of basketball. A nobody, who worked really hard, needed a shot. He got it, and took it, absolutely exploded. While being on the road, the other teams' fans would cheer for him. Of course, the NBA is a tough game. His body got way too many injuries. But when he was healthy and he laid it all on the line, it was magic.

It was so cool seeing this giant white RB straight out of the 1970's taking over in the 2010's.
It's like John Riggins or Larry Csonka for my generation.
It was pretty fun to watch.
Not only did you get to see the brutal trucks, he was super athletic as well.
Seeing him tracking down those poorly thrown passes & making something happen.
I hope his recovery is going well.
He became a real life hero, not just a football hero after he saved his kids from drowning.
Almost lost his own life, but as of this comment, he is recovering in the hospital.

I was a One Game Wonder myself, only on a MUCH smaller scale.
I played football from elementary school through the end of High School. I started as an offensive lineman, but when puberty hit 6 foot wasn’t gonna cut it in texas. I cut weight, and tried to be a running back. I had the speed and strength for it, but not the necessary field vision. Eventually I bulked back up, kept pushing the top speed, and became a decent Special Teams roll guy. Stuffing kicks, blowing up holes in kickoffs. I became a wrecking ball that had the occasional momentum changing highlight, but nothing glamorous.
    Expect for one game.
My Freshman year, I’m on JV, but everyone suits up for Homecoming. The school has a new field, the Homecoming turn out beats records, and we schedule the game against our rivals. I was playing Nose Guard on JV at the time, mostly because the kid who was playing the position got hurt. I was listed as the third string Nose Guard, but was told I wouldn’t play. Second string guy gets hurt during practice, and then the starter gets hurt near the end of the first quarter. My first Varsity down is in the Homecoming game, and we are losing. I can’t fully describe the feeling that washed over me then, the best I can do is that I surpassed the outer reaches of nervousness and felt a surreal peace I never felt on the field before nor ever again. It was almost like I could see the perfect path to the Quarterback painted for me, effortlessly read the line, and feel the panic in the Quarterbacks movement. I missed a sack by a second the first two snaps, tipped the pass in the air on the third, and that was turned into a fumble recovery. Three unsuccessful drives later, which included two sacks from me, and this pass heavy offense fully pivoted to the run. The starter was ready to go back in, and I stepped out as the opponents ineffective run game lead to a massive momentum shift. In desperation they went back to the pass in the fourth, and I was tapped back in to continue to freeze up the quarterback. I got one more sack, a second tipped pass, and in the end was majorly responsible for a 10 point deficit turning to a overwhelming 35 point win.
Most of the time when I reflect on my time playing football, I think back to the friends I made, and the joy of being a small cog in the machine of a handful of very talented teams. But occasionally, in moments like this, I reflect back on the one game I was the MVP of. A performance I can’t explain, or could ever replicate. But, one I will never forget.

Fantastic video. It must also be said that the core of that title winning team in 2015-2016 was the same core that got them promoted to the EPL 2 seasons prior. Special and poetic. Vardy, mahrez, drinkwater, wes morgan, schmeichel etc.
Also, you cannot tell the story of Leicester City without mentioning their owner at the time, Khun Vichai, which deserves a whole separate video in itself. He first bought the club in 2010 when it was in danger of being relegated to the third tier of the english football pyramid. He invested not only in the club but in the city of Leicester, giving back to the community and uplifting the city. Sadly, he passed in Oct 2018 in a helicopter crash outside the King Power, Leicester's home stadium, 2 years after that amazing title win. RIP Khun Vichai.
In yet another display of resilience and underdog story, Khun Vichai's son, Aiyawatt, took over as CEO and chairman of Leicester and oversaw the rebuild which led to Leicester winning the 2021 FA Cup (their first FA Cup in the club's history) beating Chelsea in the final, a team that would go on to win the champions league that same year.

Excellent video. 1 of my favourite football (soccer) 1 hit wonders is Grafite. A middling striker that played in a number of leagues never scoring a huge amount of goals. In the 2008/9 season he scored an insane 35 goals in 31 games in all competitions for Wolfsburg, helping them win the league. Then he just went back to being the ok striker he was. He'll always have that 1 insane season, though.

NYC was pretty crazy during Linsanity. Linsanity was a welcome reprieve, an oasis in the desert of Knicks fandom for the last 50+ years.

I was on a Cathays Pacific flight during Linsanity's peak. I remember we stopped at Hong Kong for a layover and newspaper vendors were bringing stacks of papers all covering Lin and selling them out. Everyone was enthralled.

Very well made video! American sports fans really don't understand how absurd Leicester City's premier league title win was and I'm glad to see it included in the video. Also, a quick suggestion to consider for future videos: you may want to turn down the music while you're talking. Don't know if its my bass-boosted headphones, but I found it kinda hard to focus on what you were saying (the choice of music is also really good). Hope your channel grows, and you've earned my subscription nonetheless!

Love the video, man! One of my favorite 'one hit wonders' in sports has to be Buster Douglas and his victory over Heavyweight Champion, Mike Tyson, in Tokyo. Immaculate performance that was never reached ever during the rest of his career or anytime before then. Keep up the great work!

You ain't give jeremy lin enough credit here, he was a top 10 player in the ncaa the season he went undrsfted, he was the best player in California the year he graduated high school, he was the best player in the g league a few years ago when he played for the warriors g league team, and he stopped having big seasons because he had injuries and was traded to big teams w bigger players, bigger players that pushed him off the court like James harden and Carmelo Anthony

Thing with Jeremy Lin was that he should have been drafted in the NBA as a decent role player, but because he was overlooked by colleges he had to play for Havard and overlooked again in NBA. So he was basically unscouted at the onset of Linsanity. That, coupled with the Dantoni point guard heavy offense lead Jeremy to have break out success in New York. Once he was properly scouted, his success became much more limited to what he was suppose to be as a great role player.

Hockey-wise, the Hamburgalar seems underappreciated for his unbelievable run in 14-15. Went 20-1-2 as a rookie and helped the sens make the playoffs after a slew of goalie injuries. Afterwards never played much, and was a bit inconsistent when he did play, but that one year was electric. Too bad that the clock struck midnight in the playoffs, but still 20-3 SU in 23 regular season games games is unfathomable
