Dear Sabina I am a Nikon Wildlife Photographer and Researcher from Sri Lanka. I have a deep interest to Nature & Wildlife Photography and I am actively involving in the subject with a deep meditation to the wilderness here in our country. Most of My Wildlife Photography Post Production works were done by one of my very good friend by using Adobe Photoshop. While the wild images editing works were in progress One of My Software Installation Professional very neatly and cleverly installed and gave me the Adobe Lightroom Classic 2021 to my Computer. After that slowly I started to edit my own WILD IMAGES captured through my Nikon D 7100 + NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6 E ED VR STZ Lens. While going through my works via the RUclips came across your esteemed channel and found very important and very clear and easily understanding WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY EDITING by Lovely Adobe Lightroom Classic Powerful and Friendly Software. Very attractively you are presenting the practical skills and I am learning a Lot from your Good Self. With immense Gratitude and Sincerity. Blessings.
Thank you Sabine. Far majority of "tips & tricks" videos are just videos about what is said in the manual. Your tips & tricks that are creative use of Lightroom tools. Especially, was it number three, how to create a brush selection the simple way. Keep up the good work.
Hi John. Thank you for watching the tutorial and engaging with us. I've consolidated different uses of the ALT/Option key as one tip which might seem like there is more. Anyways, the more the better right?
Hello NIkCan. Thank you for watching and engaging with us! We really value the feedback! Would be awesome to meet you once we are free to roam again, keep well!
Pangolin Photo Hosts Hoping this virus will be under control as this basic house arrest were all under is difficult to keep motivated but your videos so help.
G’day Sabine. Thanks so much for this video, I reckon I’ve learned more in that 10 minutes than I have since I learnt the basics of LR! Just awesome, thank you. Oh, and can’t wait until this wretched Covid business is over so I can return to the beautiful Chobe and the Pangolin Voyager. Wishing you all good health. James
Just found these Pangolin series of videos on RUclips and must admit they have all been excellent. I particularly like the style of Sabine Stols presentation which is light but informative. Now to find the money to go on a trip :-(
Thanks Sabine ! Again, an excellent video ! One of the trick I like to use is the range mask (luminance or colour) within the brush or filters. I find them powerful selection tools. Best !
Hi Patrick. Thank you for watching! Yes, I occasionally use the range masks as well and found them to be useful in specific situations. Lightroom is just great in offering so many helpful features ;)
The nr.1 tip was very useful , I never knew about it. The same with nr. 4 :)! The rest of them I use it from time to time, depends on the image. But overall they are very useful and much needed for anyone who use a LR. Thank you very much Sabine for all your work. Stay safe and healthy.
Danke sehr Sabine :) You can cycle the auto mask in the brush on and off while painting - using the CTRL or A key (on a US keyboard). Very handy to keep the brush effect in the contrast range under the + symbol at it's center...
Excellent Sabine! Many people get confused about catalog backups vs image backups. The catalog backups, it should be mentioned, only store the location, metadata and the processing changes; not the actual image file. Often I find that people think that the catalog also contains the actual raw photo. To backup everything (raw image and catalog) I simply go to library module, choose the folder you want to back up, right click, and then select “export this folder as a catalog”. This includes everything.
Hi Sabine, a trick I learned just recently: holding CMD or CTRL while using the mask tool, changes it to automask. No more need to check the box and very useful for detailed work, combined with larger areas. Grtz from Belgium.
Fantastic video! I learned some new tricks. Wanted to ask if you found making lens corrections at the end of your editing helped with performance? It seems to over tax my computer, when editing numerous images if I venture outside the basic panel to soon.
Hi Sabine. Fine instruction by Lightroom. Which version are you using? Lightroom Classic on PC or Lightroom Cloud. I think it's weirdest to have pictures on your own PC with backup rather than in the cloud. What do you mean is best.
Hi, great video, as all the videos are. A suggestion, could you do a tutorial on producing an output file for professional printing? Eg. jpg Vs TIFF, bit rate, colour profile, perhaps black and white printing. Basically how can ensure the prints I get from the photo lab are the same as I see on my screen. Many thanks.
All I can say is wow! At my age transferring from my Photo-gallery to Lightroom is a challenge, let alone all these brilliant tips. Nevertheless, thank you.
These are good tips but certainly not 'Hacks'. Whilst I have Remove Chromatic Aberration set on import I do not set Enable Profile Correction as many times I actually prefer the field of view without the correction and slight darkening of the corners and want to see that first. Like the auto-mask tip, but I find it causes fringing if pushed too far.
Would be great if a whole video was devoted to each tip. Apart from the first couple of tips, you covered the others much too quickly and I couldn’t work out what you were doing. Could see myself using all these tips, but unfortunately you didn’t spend long enough demonstrating each technique for me to be able to grasp them.
Hi Valerie & Patrick. I get what you are saying and will try and take more time on the next video coming out. Thank you for the feedback as this is really helpful improving!
2 years after you posted this, we are STILL finding it useful!

I have just created my first preset. And can't believe that it has taken me so long to start using this. Brilliant!
Well done John! Great if you learned something ;)
@@sabine-pangolinphotohost9232 Now I just need to remember to tick/add the preset before I import the photos.
john gunning if you ticked it once it should be ticked automatically the next time you import
Very well done! High quality presentation!
