I lived across the street from Buckroe Amusement Park in 1964 when I was 12 years old while we were waiting for permanent quarters at Fort Monroe. So many memories flooded back while watching this film. Thanks!
I had fond memories of the park having first gone in 64. The haunted house ride was the scariest I had seen for years to come and I was gifted a piece of the wooden roller coaster by my uncle who lived nearby when it was dismantled.
Buckroe Beach was and is my life!!!Every time I see anything that has anything to do with Buckroe I think about my Family!!!! Thank you for this flim!!!
Thanks for sharing!? I was born in 1972 so I have a lot of memories of the park going as a kid before it eventually closed in 1985. I think it was knocked down in 1986. I had so much fun and have so many fond memories of Buckroe Beach Amusement park!! 😁❤️
I used to live in Hampton (1967 - 1971) not too far from Buckroe Beach. Used to ride my bike to the beach and park all the time. Those were some fun times!
I went here every year on vacation. I was from Pittsburgh,Pa. I met the most amazing boy and every year we would meet up. Wonder whatever happened to him. He worked at the amusement park. Wonderful memories.
I went to buckroe beach amusement park every Saturday from 4yrs old till 6 yrs old. I have a lot of great memories. Like the house under the rollercoaster, the snakes in the tunnel of love, and the story of the ride that goes forward and then went backwards until someone tried to get off in the middle of the ride.
I live in Williamsburg and just found out about this amusement park. I feel nostalgia for it even though I never experienced it. I wish it was still there, as it was...
Thanks so much for posting this movie footage I went to Buckrow Amusement Park every year since I was a toddler around the time this was shot! My friends and I went far more often when we got our drivers licenses the summer of 1970! From 0:46 to 0:51 you'll see the inspiration for today's big shiny SpaceX Starship rockets.
Nice to see some of the rides in action from this long gone park. Thanks for the video. Sadly it was closed down when I was too young to have gotten to enjoy it or remember it. Wish it was still there or that they'd open a new modern version of it.
I never understood why they tore this down. I had such a good time as a kid at Buckroe Beach Amusement Park. I grew up in Buckroe & as soon as they tore the park down the area changed for the worse. Now you don't want to go down there to the beach at all unless you have a death wish or you want to get robbed.
I remember cotton candy smell that made me sick. And that twisty ride called the Bullet that smelled like vomit! But I still loved the place. Was 10 years old in 1958 and Buckroe beach was our summer vacation spot. It was barefoot summer adventures then.... just perfect for kids
I’m from Hampton and have lived here all my life… watching this video of a Safe and Family friendly Buckroe Beach makes me smile…. Now in 2024 at night up there you have to carry a gun and wear a damn Kevlar vest… Buckroe Beach is GHETTO as hell

Brings back a lot of childhood memories. It is a shame that park vanished.

Yep born in 71 here. This & plaza roller rink were the places to be growing up
What a cool film I was born in Hampton in 1949 so this was my time period 1950's. Just as I remember it. Moved to Hawaii at 19 to surf.

Me too. This & plaza roller rink. My kids will never know neither of them.
Great film, brings back a lot of memories working at the soda shop as you came into the park.
I remember going to the amusement park in 1968 while visiting my uncle who was stationed at Langley AFB.

Great memories of my childhood at Buckroe Amusement Park!
I just went to Buckroe Beach yesterday. Of course the amusement park is long gone with grassy areas in its place.
Yes such a waste
Thanks so much for sharing
I use to go to Buckroe with my family in the early 60’s.

Thanks for posting. I attended Hampton University in the early 80's and would escape here after midterms or finals.
Miss Buckroe Beach Amusement Park

Competition for Busch Gardens & Kings Dominion killed it.
I rode this rollercoaster in 1969 at age 13 and haven't been on another one since!!!🤣🤣🤣
OMG? THAT'S FUNNY!!

Yep. They ruined a great place. I grew up in Buckroe & I never go back there anymore. I don't have a death wish.
From the top of my monkey bars in my back yard you could see the top hill of the coaster.
Wow!
Nice video. Looked on Google Earth but I guess the Amusement park is long gone. Shame.
it was torn down many years ago in the '80s. It was a wonderful place to spend time, no matter what age you were.
It makes me home sick
It's not the same place. It's ghetto now. Do not be down there after dark.
