The "Black Girl Magic is Killing Us" was a 5 sensory experience curated by Toni Jones to provide African blooded women a time to gather in a atmosphere of luxury, beauty, pampering, fun and soulful connection to discuss how we define Black Girl Magic. During this time we discussed the branding of "BGM" and how that branding was defining our magic based on production,. performance and achievement byway of overworking, sweats and tears. Toni Jones and the founder of My Brown Box Brittany Marshall led conversation to redefine "BGM" as the energy that is within us that is sourced by well being and self care not productivity and performance. The ancestors of African blooded women have lived that definition we honor them by using our freedom to choose living our lives not dictated by labor/doing but through well being.
