Sounds like Mr Doggett has aspirations, or was…persuaded by the dark side.
This is a genuine opportunity for the democratic party to display characteristics of dynamism, adaptability, and above all, responsiveness to their supporters. If Biden is the only democratic politician who can win the presidential election, the party is more similar to the Republican party than I thought.
Responding to ordinary voters isn't their strong suit. (They love their big donors.) But they care about clean air + water + cancelling student debt and keeping Social Security + Medicare + the head people are not interested in being actual dictators.

Couple things to keep in mind: I am not sure the money Biden already raised could just be "transferred" to a new candidate. If not, then what happens to all that money? Also, at this point in the process, state laws may have already locked in the designated candidate on the ballot. It may be too late in all states to make a change at this stage. So, wanting something and being able to actually make it happen are different.

As a political independent, I would love to see the Democrats run Adam Kinzinger as their presidential nominee. He’s a moderate conservative who has demonstrated a deep integrity, rational decision-making, and an ability to clearly and compellingly articulate Trump’s deficiencies.
I considered him also, simply because he has a conscience and a spine. Moderates from both parties would like him, and Trump would be left with only 25% of the conservative vote. Kamala Harris, Amy K, or Julian Castro could be VP running mate, and would balance the ticket.

The next debate should be a verbal exam with open ended questions about civics, the constitution, and international issues. The candidates should prove that they possess a basic level of competence. No multiple choice questions allowed. And then their answers will be scored numerically, as in school. Trump would fail.
