This song is literally an anthem in Australia. I don't think you'll find one Aussie person who doesn't know this song or every lyric. John Farnham is in his 70s now and still sings like this. He's a national treasure ❤️
This song brings out the singer in every Australian, love watching the reaction from people who haven’t heard this song before. Thank you for loving our unofficial national anthem & our very special John Farnham
We all here in The Netherlands love John Farnham, especially with this song. It represents Australia so well, so full of energy!!! Loved this song since the 80s!!
The one thing I love more and more about Farnham's voice is the fact that every word is perfectly enunciated (with an Australian accent). Regardless of range or speed
This is so true...and I feel the accent is quite neutral...diction and enunciation perfect...master class in communicating!!!! Modern singers seem to mumble to themselves.
WE in Australia have been so bloody lucky over the last 50 years to have John Farnham & the likes of Jimmy Barns & his kids David Campbell & Mahalia , Marcia Hines & her daughter Demi, Tina Arena, Diesel & more recently Guy Sebastion, Anthony Calea, & Delta Goodrem, Jessica Malbouy, Cassy Donovan, & so many more that you really ought to check out.. I am 65 & Aussie Music is Awesome..
To give everyone outside of Australia particularly America, John Farnham is the Neil Diamond of Australia. Legend of a bloke. An Australian icon. If you’re feeling down, listen to You’re the Voice!
"Just the voice" reacting to "The Voice" I have watched well over 50 reactors to this song..all of ya are singing along by the end! Now That's a True Anthem!! 👏👏
Yes we can clap on beat and take over singing at his live shows which are huge and you can miss out on a ticket if your not quick enough. He fills those huge concert halls and he’s a one man show all evening alone with his band which are brilliant and was with him for many years. John Farnham will be 72 this year. He’s been singing here in Australia since he was 18. Had a short stint as lead vocalist with The Little River Band. Why is the world just hearing/ discovering him now via RUclips? But we got to keep him all to ourselves 😁, except for Germany I think.
Just wonderful to see this reaction! Love seeing you begin to understand what we aussies love about John. He’s such an amazing singer, & decent, down to earth bloke, with a great sense of humour. He always introduces his band members with pride at every concert. I’ve seen him live many times, over the years. He gives his all, every time.
That's our John. He's awesome and an icon here in Australia. He's a bit of a larrikin and audiences love him because he has such rapport with them. Standing on stage, getting that sort of audience reaction must be so inspiring for a performer. His voice range and microphone technique are great. Lov you reaction. It's great to see people outside Australia finally getting to hear John.
David Hirschfelder on bagpipe keyboard replacing the actual bagpipes in the original Australian release. Apparently American record execs didn't like the bagpipes! This album was no 1 in Australia for 18 weeks so yes the audience knew the song! As usual an excellent breakdown from you! Thank you.
I love your audiovisual set up (the clearest) and the knowledge that you bring to your reviews. Obviously as a die hard Farnsey fan I also appreciate that you like John too. Another bigger version of this, with one piper instead of a keytar is the concert that is live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, brilliant. You mentioned John's reflexes. For many years John and his wife Jill competed in competition quarter horse riding and were successful champions at both state and national levels. I suspect he did various things (like tossing & catching his mike & mike stand) to maintain his reaction times for his ring events and very active life. Thank you.
God Tier of unofficial anthems. This is quintessential Australiana, the soundtrack of communal events and celebrations. The kind of song the DJ plays to close out a wedding, that friends sing around a campfire when someone brings out the guitar. It’s a part of all of our lived experiences growing up here. Nothing like Farnsey’s belt. NOTHING. I cannot recommend highly enough, react to his performance of Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar. Any song is amazing, but I’d go with his masterful performance of Gethsemene. I’ve heard many a vocal master play the role, but John’s is truly the best. He’s perfectly equipped with his specific vocal gifts for rock opera.
John is great, but he also does a duet with a legendary American backing singer by the name on Miss Vanetta Fields. The song is a gospel icon, Amazing Grace and the pair of then just slays everyone. If you have the time please give it a run.
He can literally belt higher and more powerful than me, and I'm a woman maybe alto-mezzo soprano range 🤣🤣🤣 His technique is impeccable. And evidenced by the fact that at 68 he was performing and sounding almost exactly like he did here... 🥰 Wish I had made an effort to see him live when I was younger 😢
Really like how he is really into the music and not like other reactors that just sits there and listens but the one thing all the reactors have in common is they are mesmerized when they hear John's voice LOL
He is known as "the voice" here in Australia. He is in his 70's now and still sings this perfectly. It is astonishing. He is also one of the nicest men you will ever meet. He is our National Treasure and we LOVE him. The MESSAGE is so very important back then and still today. Thank you for reacting to this and appreciating the massive talent that he is.
The black lady doing backup vocals is the legendary Vanetta Fields, she appeared on a myriad of international albums, watch her and john do "Amazing Grace" together just stunning.
John has a huge following in Australia and he should have been an international super 💫. Please continue reacting to his portfolio as it is extensive. Paul McCartney once said that John did the best rendition of “Help” that he had heard. Check that out. 👍🇦🇺
We call him 'Whispering Jack' here in Oz referencing the incredible range of his voice, from a whisper, to a roaring scream, without a flaw. Incredible song repertoire as well. 'A touch Of Paradise' is another Farnham gem as well.
Oh thank you again for reacting to John Farnham. Was waiting for your next one. So much more of his concerts with the orchestra you will love. By the way the h in Farnham is silent as in Farnam. He is our Elvis down under
Great reaction as usual and a wonderful surprise to see an OG Aussie singer like Farnham on your channel again! One of his best emotional ballads imo would have to be ‘Please Don’t Ask Me’-a classic that still gets played on OG radio stations down here in Oz.
I love trying to guess the abbreviations...like maybe you're in the medical profession ...or police force where they use these all the time...or maybe you're a millenial...but I enjoy to guess....Old God....Other Guy...couldn't be Old Grump(that's me) ..Orthopaedic Gown...
listen to the live version with the melbourne symphony orchestra you will like it better maybe.I think that he is good on all of his songs at different stages of his long career. He's a legend .....
One of the best male Singer in the World. He should have been more notised world wide. One of the best live performer there is. He still sings this song in the original key. 71yo. Please react to John singing when the war is over from a live show called the last time, its from 2003. He is freakin awsome. One of the best live performence ive ever heard
Also on stage (but without as much screen time as the rest of the band), Jack Jones (Irwin Thomas), phenomenal guitarist and vocalist in his own right. Johns audiences have just got more and more into this song as the decades have rolled on.
John is one of three men who have mastered the microphone stand (the other two being Rodger Daltry and Jon English). Sorry you missed a lot of his tricks cos you had your eyes closed grooving to The Voice.
This is THE Anti-Violence Message Song that is enduring. Unfortunately this message is still terribly relevant in so many places around the world. With this driving beat & infectious chorus - that anyone can sing - and the moving simple but profound lyrics; I'm thinking this should be played in every: shopping centre - subway - school - everywhere... { Can you imagine an entire packed subway train nodding to this beat & singing (Hollering!) along - like this crowd!!! ) " We're ALL someone's daughter - We're ALL someone's son. HOW can we look at each other down the barrel of a gun?" Indeed...
Just for shits and giggles watch it from a video taken by an audience member, then you will the experience. No high tech recordings just the crowd. Have seen him so many times over the years and still puts on great show
Idea out of left-field: This song could be a fund-raising item for our ongoing awareness and support of the causes at the forefront of our society. That is, an album made up of various performers in various genres' versions. So, 'You're The Voice' done by hip-hop/rap artists, country, jazz, classical, blues, K-Pop, et cetera. All proceeds to go to specific organizations. This song speaks to the very notion of making Life better, fairer, more just. You could easily raise a billion dollars globally, especially if there were different languages' versions.
To know why we love JF and this anthem check out his performance at the 2009 Sound Relief concert in Sydney with Coldplay ( ruclips.net/video/C14IWdrHMus/видео.html ) The Sound Relief concert raised money for victims of bushfires and floods in Australia.
Interesting difference between US and Commonwealth nations pronunciations: FarnHAM vs Farnum. BirmingHAM vs Burnmingum. BuckingHAM Palace vs Buckingum Palace.
If you enjoy his voice then you've gotta listen to the song "When something is wrong with my baby" he did with Jimmy Barnes and then go down the path of Jimmy Barnes' songs. Here's the link ruclips.net/video/dvPw8EVY3rc/видео.html
Please react to Shreya Ghoshal's Berklee ensemble live performance, its phenomenal. SG is one of the best soprano voices out there today. I am a fan of your reactions !!
I love seeing the new generation discover the older music and seeing their faces light up
This song is literally an anthem in Australia. I don't think you'll find one Aussie person who doesn't know this song or every lyric.
John Farnham is in his 70s now and still sings like this. He's a national treasure ❤️
I don't know every lyric - but it's definitely a favourite in Oz.
This song brings out the singer in every Australian, love watching the reaction from people who haven’t heard this song before. Thank you for loving our unofficial national anthem & our very special John Farnham
Don't think there is an Aussie who doesn't know this song...my kids are in their 20s and been singing it since they were in infants school lol
We all here in The Netherlands love John Farnham, especially with this song. It represents Australia so well, so full of energy!!! Loved this song since the 80s!!
This song is an anthem in Australia, he's one of our national treasures!
Couldn’t agree more ❤️🇦🇺 let’s sing Aussies 🎤
What a voice 😊
One of the best songs ever written in the music industry. The power behind the words...it is just a powerful message.
This song is so iconic, one of the unofficial Australian anthems.
This should become the USA’s national anthem too, especially once you listen to those words carefully!
He did this live with Celine, you should check that out 👌👌
Yes!!!!! React to the Céline version plz
Omg,i need to see that...
Celine is one of his biggest fans. Seeing her Fangirling towards him was hilarious.
Yess love that performance both sing amazingly
I did not know this. Thank you for sending me down a wonderfully enjoyable rabbit hole

You have to listning to Jimmy Barnes John Farnham-Something is wrong with my baby from 2012! Its gold!
Oh Yeah!! 👏👏

How nobody ever got killed by that flying mic stand I will never know.
Hahaha 🤣
He once admitted to breaking heaps of mike stands
Magic?! 😂
He threw a mic stand at like every gig, just about.
That's our John. He's awesome and an icon here in Australia. He's a bit of a larrikin and audiences love him because he has such rapport with them. One of his back-up singers is Venetta Fields who also toured with Ike and Tina Turner.

You have to listen to the live performance of John and Céline Dion on her tour in Australia. Awesomeness she made me fall in love with song.

Thanks so much. Every Aussie knows this song even the young ones. John is still our hero, even after all this time.
