- Achieved live on the Twitch channel on 8/16/22. I'd been practicing for months since the last successful Batman speedrun stream, to a point I was regularly surpassing the former record of 14:49 by quite a significant margin. When I recently attempted it live, it took me a few tries, but I finally achieved at least a 3-second difference.
I know for a fact a lower time is possible, however, so I may return to speedrunning this game very soon. Oh, and btw: I didn't realize until playing SNES Batman Returns later in the stream that I'd left some color correction on, hence the higher gamma in the game footage.
Classic games and sample hunting? This channel is right up my alley!

And while the classic gaming is the primary thing and will likely be more frequent, trust me, I still love a good sample hunt (and have for years).
Also, I'm loving your sample breakdown videos. I have you to thank especially for recently getting me into Todd Edwards' "If You Want," which lead to listening to more Todd Edwards, which got me back into sample-based music again.

I have another Todd Edwards video in the works just now actually that started off pretty short but after this crazy year of sample hunting it's looking to be over 10 minutes long. I hope to have that out very soon!

how do u like this game i never played it before? is it like the data east arcade game?
One of my favorites, definitely. One of the first Sega Genesis games I got when I was a kid - and for my favorite movie to boot. Quite different from the Data East arcade game. Follows the movie very closely like the arcade game, with a similar genre. But there's more of a platforming focus in the Genesis game, I'd say. The grappling gun gets more use in that regard. Plus, there's not a constant barrage of enemies, the Batarang is your main weapon outside of punches & kicks, the vehicle stages are 3rd person with a general "destory all enemies" objective, and there's a different feel in the overall movement and physics.
How do you do that fast moving jump?
Start with a double jump flip. When you're about to hit the ground, hit the punch button. Quickly after landing, tap only the jump button. Batman will jump forward on his own without having to use the D-Pad. A heavier tap will give you a higher jump, a lighter tap will give you a lower jump. And each time you're about to land from THOSE jumps, just repeat the process: press punch as you're about to land, and press only jump soon afterwards. One thing to look out for to get the timing down is a bit of a screen nudge as Batman throws a punch while about to land.
A lower jump gives you less hangtime, which helps to quickly move across a level. But there are certain areas where a higher jump is more beneficial, as it covers a lot of area (Axis Chemicals especially - particularly the pipe areas).
