this must be my favourite end of the whole 4 seasons. It's sad,yet it's peaceful.I hope this means that Jane is starting to heal. And the music makes it even more perfect.
I love this OST and it's one of my favourite endings of an episode. It's so serene, so calm, it's hauntingly beautiful... you can almost feel yourself lulling away into sleep like the flower does in the ocean. And the fact that it shows how humble and human Jane actually is despite all his trickery and "pranks." I love it, that back ground music at 00:27 and 00:41 is too lovely.
I dunno why but whenever Jane has a scene when he shows his undying love for Charlotte & Angela, it always ended up being the most powerful scene of the season; like in season 1 finale when he said to Lisbon he didn't mind dying to catch RJ, in season 3 eps 19 when he told Erica Flynn he still longs for Angela, and of course this scene. Patrick Jane rarely shows his feeling for Charlotte & Angela, but when he does, he does it with the subtlest yet ethereal way. The best scene of S4 so far!
Lol, I'm 10 years late but you're absolutely right. In fact, the scene at the end of the episode where Lisbon watches Patrick's interview with Erica is phenomenal. You can see the sadness is his eyes, the regret in his voice. It's heart breaking.
This is for his wife and daughter... 🥺💔 when the old lady from the community told Patrick that she had thrown a flower into the sea for the murdered girl they found and that it gave her peace, I could see those words stuck with Jane.. he is not a believer in God like Lisbon is and he does not believe in any of those related things either but he found/felt something special in this ritual that the inhabitants of a beach/coast do when they lose a family member or one loved person from the community . It is a scene so sad and powerful at the same time to show that. Jane always felt a connection with nature especially the beaches or coasts, places where there was a lake or sea... when he was "psychic" her house was located in front of a paradisiacal sea... when he found the cabin where he would live with Lisbon, said house was in front of a lake. 💕 The funny thing is also that what was thrown into this sea was always returned, so it also meant that peace and love would return to Jane's life, as it finally did.
These endings get ya... Sheesh. This one, the first Kristina Frye ep, and the Dr. Steiner one may be my favs. Oh, and can't forget the ending with Danny, Janes brother in law. Sigh.
@maryngreenshades hey.. so you think he's starting to heal too. That's what I thought, and I was like "omg it's important... it means that he's starting anew and coming to term with his grief." loving this scene... and it's significance !!
@nameOlegK the music for this scene is new,it belongs to S4,so it will probably come out when a CD for S4 Soundtrack will be released. You can find a CD for S1 and 2 on Amazon atm.
I've got no words to describe Jane's sentimental for her daughter..... Love from india

I love "The Mentalist". It's usually funny, always intersting and sometimes touching and moving - like this scene.
