STORY
Madurai Ponnu Chennai Paiyan is a Tamil romantic drama film directed by A.C. Rajasekaran and starring S.S.R. Pankaj Kumar and Thejamai in the lead roles, with R. Sundarrajan, Manobala, Santhana Bharathi, Arun Pandian, Nizhalgal Ravi, Karate Raja, Pandu, and S.B. Muthubharathi playing supporting roles.
The film revolves around Visa (Thejamai), a young woman from Madurai who moves to Chennai with her family after her father's death. She joins a secondary school as a plus-two student and finds herself drawn to her classmate Surya (S.S.R. Pankaj Kumar), the son of a famous film editor.
As their friendship blossoms into love, Visa's family faces opposition from her uncles, who want her to marry their relative Maruthupandi (Karate Raja), a hot-blooded village brute. When Visa's mother discovers their love affair, she forbids Visa from going to school and threatens to commit suicide if she cannot keep the promise she made to her uncles.
Torn between her love for Surya and her family's expectations, Visa reluctantly agrees to forget Surya. However, unable to bear the pain of separation, both Surya and Visa decide to fake their suicides, hoping to convince their families to accept their relationship.
The plan initially works, and their families agree to their marriage. However, the truth eventually comes out, and Surya and Visa must face the consequences of their actions.
Madurai Ponnu Chennai Paiyan is a heartwarming story about love, family, and the sacrifices one makes for the sake of true love. It is a reminder that love knows no boundaries and that true love can overcome any obstacle.
