Prince was a star player on his highschool basketball team. He wasn't a starter, but an important second squad guy. Also, "Purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka" was a line from the movie Purple Rain.
If you’re ever in the Twin Cities and someone tells you take a nice walk around Lake Minnetonka, don’t fall for it they’re just messing with you. The lake is not what you might call small, it’s over 22 square miles of surface area with over 100 miles of shoreline.

This is 100% true. In the full episode Dave Chappelle said that while working on the show Charlie Murphy, Eddie Murphy's brother would tell them hilarious real stories during lunch. So good that they finally just put them into the show haha

Oh it's so true.When I went to Pasiley Park.I saw a picture of Prince on his high school basketball team.The tour guide said he had a baseball court in his home but turned it into another recording studio.Prince was also asked about it in an interview and confirmed it.IDK why people think short people can't ball.Im 4ft11 and was one of the top athletes at my high school.Second place out of 86 freshman girls in physical fitness TestSame for my oldest Brother 5ft6 top varsity ball.Dont judge a book by its cover.
Don't forget about Mugsey Boggs and Spud Webb. They both played in the NBA and I think that they were 5"4" and 5"6". Natural ability and sheer drive can carry you far if you have the desire.

A man from my hometown ran a bar in Minneapolis. He used to shoot baskets with Prince before he was famous. This guy was 6'7" and Prince at 5' 2" kept up with him.
Prince lived in Minnesota (lake Minnetonka reference) and many accounts of strange behavior. He was odd. The Charlie Murphy Rick James stories were backed up by Rick James himself so I believe this one is true also.
The "Purify yourself in the waters of lake Minnetonka" line, is also a famous line from the movie Purple Rain. When he tells her after the motorcycle ride, to Purify herself in the waters .....", And after she jumps in the lake he tells her, "That's not Lake Minnetonka". Lol

Even Mickey Free corroborated this story, including his stage attire, Charlie sucking, and the pancakes. Prince himself said it wasn't so much that he was really good, but it wasn't hard to beat Charlie. Charlie was a straight shooter, God rest his soul, and all the stories he told on Chappelle's Show were legit.

Two months after the episode aired, Prince backed-up Murphy's story in a radio interview, responding "Oh definitely" after being asked if he had "game" or not.

Dude's knowledge about Prince, or even in general, isn't enough up to par, to fully appreciate this skit 💯 So many jokes and references went straight over this guy's head

Prince was just Brother Nelson at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He never half-assed anything...basketball, guitar, the other ~18 instruments he played. He was a perfect gentleman at church. He took the time to shake everyone's hand and to speak uplifting words to the kids after the services. He was a class act.
