    The tradition of Dalai Lama speaks great wisdom. We are all very fortunate to have the force reincarnated through the impulse of grace. It is not one single person but a tradition. We are up to the 14th reincarnation now. Such humanity, such peace. Peace is not just the absence of war. It is a state of permanent quiet and sillness. This is what the tradition of the Dalai Lama embues. Permanent peace.

    Really gets you thinking. We need to come to grips with the fact that everything that we perceive is quite literally inside of our minds. What you experience as reality is nothing more than the sum of everything you perceive through your senses, information which is processed in the brain. Reality could look completely different or it could simply not exist "out there". *Solipsism* suggests that we can never prove that reality exists independently of ourselves. It is impossible, *because the only tools we can use to figure that out are our senses and the brain, things that are made out of the reality we are trying to prove or disprove. It would be like trying to bite your own teeth*. When you dream, you do not question the dream, you simply accept that reality and live out the experience. It is only when you wake up that you realize it wasn't "real". But what is real? This moment is inside your head as much as the dream you had last night. That doesn't mean that it is not real. It doesn't mean that it does not matter. It is still a very real experience. Once you come to this conclusion you realize that the nature of reality is purely mental. Not materialistic and mechanical as we previously thought. If you think about it, matter isn't what we think it is. It is not physical. Think about the way physics breaks it down. Eventually you come to the physical world's "building blocks", very small particles that cannot be broken down anymore. Physics even comes to the conclusion that these very small particles are in turn made out of *point particles, which are particles that have no spatial extension, they are zero-dimensional, take up zero space*. Particles do not simply break down infinitely. There isn't an infinite amount of infinitely small particles. In other words, matter is made out of quite literally nothing. Logically we have to get to this nothingness eventually. Pure nothingness. You can say matter is made out of energy but this energy in turn must come from somewhere else. The Big Bang is no answer as we could ask the same question about it. Where did it come from? People don't even understand what energy really is. When most people think about energy they think about a substance, something tangible like fire. That is not it. Scientifically, *energy is described simply as potential*. The potential of a given system to do do work. *Not a substance*. That eliminates energy as an answer for the base of "physical" reality. Because the physical world is ultimately made of nothing, the only logical conclusion is that it is in fact mental, because the only way you and I experience it is mentally, and so do any other conscious beings that may exist.
    Ultimately, it is likely that the universe could be just a great thought, as many wise men have said. Following this logic, we can then come to the conclusion that you are the creator as much as the universe is your maker. Maybe the universe simply could not exist without your awareness of it. This would suggest that *the world isn't just a machine that exists out there, but it is a mental landscape. We think we cannot see directly see inside our minds, but the world we experience every day is the mind. All aspects of it, such as space, matter and time, are aspects of your own mind*. *This doesn't have to mean that other people don't really exist. Maybe other individuals are simply different points of view. Different perspectives on the world. The universe looking at itself from every possible point of perspective, having every possible experience of itself. That would even include animals and any other life form that has developed some level of perception*. Obviously this only leads to more questions, like everything else. Does the world make you, or do you make it? If it makes you what makes it? I believe it is both. The universe depends on you as much as you depend on it. *The largest galaxies could not exist without you, and you would not exist without them*. You are dependent on the elements created in massive stars, yet to you, these stars would not exist, if you didn't exist. Don't think about this reality as "really out there", remember that we simply cannot prove that the things that we perceive are independent of ourselves. Like I said before, that would be like *tyring to bite your own teeth, or touching the fingertip of your finger with that same finger*. Makes no sense. Remember that *if matter is fundamentally empty, then it cannot be physical*. Ultimately everything is one. Clearly this is all hypothetical and unproved by science, but like I said, it simply cannot be proved by science. Never will be. But possible nonetheless. I realize most people don't have the attention span to go read all that, but I fell like putting my thougts out there. Too blazed.

    • @andersonm5889
      @andersonm5889 7 лет назад +5

      Guitarbage. What a condescending way to try to offend me with the pipe comment ha. It doesn't offend me at all. I actually prefer joints. I said people have poor attention span, because it is true. Most people don't really care. By the way, I do try to learn things about the world every day. Hence why I watch these types of videos. I am also an avid reader, a drummer, and a computer programmer in training. I like weed, music and videos such as this one that inspire philosophical thought. What I "rambled" about is basic philosophical theory introduced by the father of philosophy and logic. Socrates. You might have heard of him. Solipsisim is a logical and psychological theory that cannot be proved or disproved, which is what makes it so interesting. I do add that it could be possible that other beings with conscious perception exist, which would be a way for the universe to know itself from every possible perspective. I like to smoke cannabis and write a lot. I find it intellectually stimulating. Even if it's a comment on youtube that not many will read, I find it cool to share my opinion on the nature of the mind and the world, to whoever is out there that may be interested. You probably didn't know that many great minds were substance users. Such as Steve Jobs, Carl Sagan, and Freud. It's alright though. It is expected that a lot of people feel uncomfortable with these kinds of hypotheses, because they suggest that their dear material existence is nothing but a mental, more ethereal experience. It is still very real. Real just defines what you perceive and process in your brain. Once you really understand it, you might find that the kind of experience I describe can be even more valuable and interesting than your boring, solid and meaningless existence. What I "rambled" about is purely hypothetical kids, don't go jumping out the window thinking you can fly because of a comment. Hey look! It looks like you too learned something new today, Guitarbage.

    • @andersonm5889
      @andersonm5889 7 лет назад +5

      Guitarbage + I'm hoping to have a productive conversation with you, unless you feel my lengthy response is a "waste of time". Nothing in the world is a waste of time and you'll be surprised when you learn things in unexpected places. First of all, whether you learn these theories in "intro philosophy", the internet, or just some book, the fact of the matter is that solipsism, like many other interesting theories, deals with the fabric of existence itself. It puts into question your pre-conceived notions of the universe, and it is therefore at least worth considering.
      Having said that, the thoughts I shared are directed to people who watched this video and felt like reading comments, not to people who "don't have the luxury" to think philosophical thoughts. That is just laughable! Everyone has time to think. We are not talking about a documentary that shows the extreme poverty of the people of Somalia. We are discussing philosophy on a video about philosophy. *I assure you that if anyone has two hours to dedicate to a video about the nature of mind, then they have the luxury to think about and consider theories about the nature of the universe.* Another thing is that you simply feel annoyed by me being too blazed, or by the way I expressed such thoughts. Well, I like to think the world should be a free place where people can do as they please. Also, if people don't feel stimulated enough with what they get every day in the world then that is their problem. I didn't share those thoughts in order to provide some sort of relief to those who feel the world is not enough, as you may think. I shared because the contents of this video brought those thoughts up in my head and I felt like contributing to the conversation of such an extensive topic, as is the mind and consciousness.
      You wanna talk stimulation? If anything, the philosopher who came up with this hypothesis was probably more stimulated by the world he lived in than most other people. I believe that this stimulation would cause an individual to question the nature of the world around him in order to understand it better. Such a curiosity about the world is what woud lead you to develop theories about yourself and your surroundings. That's scientists and philosophers alike. Actually, technical science would not exist without philosophy. First comes philosohical thought, then the means to prove or disprove those hypotheses. The fact that the hypothesis at hand cannot be proved or disproved, while being perfectly possible and suggesting what it does, makes it all the more attractive. *If there are people who find comfort in the theory of solipsism, and think the world is some illusion, that is unfortunate for them*. I find myself perplexed by the world, hence why I like to study and discuss these topics. I can almost guarantee that if this had been a video about black holes, my long rant would have been about black holes. Just like I enjoy writing, getting blazed and learning as much as possible, I enjoy having discussions with people about things that don't concern the average population. Outside of the internet, the only person I can really have these discussions with is my brother. Everyone else thinks I should be more focused on getting wasted every weekend and having sex with a different girl every day. I find those people pathetic. I'm glad we got that out of the way.
      It seems to me like you do not really understand what I talked about if you think the implications of that hypothesis are "egomaniacal", or suggest that the world does not matter. The world matters either way, because it is the only thing you experience every day. If you read the whole thing, you understood I wasn't talking about common solipsism. What I described can't even be called a variation of it because it differs in its definition. I gave an introduction to regular solipsism and then added a twist to it. This is where I'm coming from: You cannot deny that it is scary and uncomfortable to accept solipsism as it is, since it suggests you are alone. But the reason I like the ideas I described is that it seemed to me that *it would be such a waste for existence to be reduced to only one individual mind*. Why would the universe limit itself so much? Think about it, what you and I observe every day in nature is infinite variation. Every single galaxy is unique. The same goes for stars, planets, trees, plants, grass leaves, living beings, etc. You'll not find one leaf that looks exactly identical to another. It's true you can find twins but not even those are perfectly identical. If there is life in other planets, it could be something completely different form what you and I know, depending on the conditions in which it evolves. *Just as existence includes ever possible variation of everything in nature, it could include every possbile variation of conscious perspectives, so it can have every possible experience of itself*. You and I are just different perspectives on existence. Whether mind creates it or the Big Bang creates it, makes no difference. We do not know the origin of things and probably never will. The Big Bang must have been caused by something else. I find that to be an awesome idea, and it does not invalidate other beings capable of perception. It doesn't really invalidate the world, it just invalidates the belief that it is "out there". I'm almost done.
      To finish off, the problem I have with modern physics is that not even the physicists behind it know what is going on. The question I am trying to ask is: What is the ultimate fundament of matter? The fabric of reality? Most people would say energy. I said this in my main comment. Most people don't know what energy is. It is not a substance. It is not a tangible thing. Energy is described as the potential of a system to do work. Like an impulse. But what causes the impulse? As I described, physics came up with a theoretical "point particle", a zero dimensional particle which takes up no space. They do that because they know that particles dividing themselves infinitely is illogical. But particles being fundamentally made of point particles, which take up zero space, is also nonsensical. It implies that matter is fundamentally made out of nothingness. My question is, where does it come from? What is its prime origin? You can ask the same question about the Big Bang or God. To me, point particles being the fundament of reality means that reality is simply not physical, not really out there. *Matter exists, but it is not matter in the sense you think you know. That is the only logical conclusion.*. I'm not sure there is another way of putting it. I could go on an on talking about the implications of consciousness in the universe and the paradox of existence, but I feel like this is getting a little long. Ultimately, the only thing you can really be certain of are your own thoughts, because denying a thought would be to think a thought. Lastly, I never claimed these where "enlightened thoughts". You're saying I wasted your time with my comment, and that puts me a little off. I didn't waste your time. You wasted your time by making the decision of reading it. You're not paying for a product. This isn't some lesson you were obliged to take. Reading it was your decision. If you got to the end of this, I do thank you for reading, and I certainly hope you were able to get something out of a fellow human and his perspective on things.

    If an Alien civilization ever want to quantify the ego of the human species, the youtube comments will be a rich data source.

    HIS HOLINESS THE 14TH DALAI LAMA GIVES PRECIOUS TEACHINGS BUT MANY PERSONS DON’T SPEAK ENGLISH. A LOT OF PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HIS HOLINESS SAYS AND PUT IT INTO PRACTICE. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO TRANSLATE IN OTHER LANGUAGES HIS HOLINESS TEACHINGS.

    If not for the greater and lesser teachings of Buddha, I would be something worse than Satan. Now I'm only Lucifer trying to work his way back into Heaven!

    • @somethingofafreak8691
      @somethingofafreak8691 10 лет назад

      really? How so?

    • @Ghoodaytoday
      @Ghoodaytoday 10 лет назад +6

      Satan is a metaphor representing knowledge gone wrong; a perversion of the truth. Lucifer represents the being that holds the brightest knowledge. All things return from which it came. Anyone whose been to Heaven and left would be stupid to not want to return. I took all the trips and fell off every fall. Now, I'm an expert at getting, going and coming up! Thanks to the teachings of The Elders/Lesser and The Masses/Greater I now know how to: Row/Propel, Row/Think, Row/Feel, your Boat/Spaceship/Lotus/Mind, gently/Awareness down the Stream/Flow/Peerless, and merrily/proton, merrily/neutron, merrily/electron, merrily/neutrino, life is but a Dream/Manifestation/Cultivation. When you connect the myths, legends and teachings to science, you've arrived. When you can apply that science, you're out of this world :)

    It's amazing to me that he can remain so peaceful and good-natured even with everything that has happened to him and his country. It is a kind of tragedy I don't think I could quite imagine. It is hard not to get mad when I think about it.

    He is always funny like a kid. That is what I love about him. He is still child-like and doesn't give a hoot about whether we revere him. See how he supplicates to the audience as well so humbly as if he is acknowledging the audience's souls. I think he will make a funny friend.
