I like the full sound of the ETM-001 but found on my Sony cameras even turned down to "1" it's so hot it blows out the audio very easily and there is no way to lower it any more. Very frustrating. I thought the Saramonic sounded terrible.
What would be the best small compact microphone to record live concerts where the sound and bass are usually too high and clip the built in microphone of the RX100M7?
The problem is the Sony is amp is so high. You would need a mic that has its own gain controls. I am not experienced in that area. But small and compact is not the norm for them. .
@@ScottsReviews got it. That camera has a gain control in manual video, I turn it way down, it helps, but music is still not great, mostly bass. Example from a distance: ruclips.net/video/f1tLn4-D730/видео.html and from too close: ruclips.net/video/BMQi8-oC3Hc/видео.html I'm still hoping a better microphone would help, but if it's not small, then it won't work well. So from what I said, I should keep what I have?
@@graceeey147 I did not. To be fair my problem is concerts where the music is too loud and hte microphone clips. So I just tell my sony to take the gain way down (down to 5 or 6, which helps, but in some cases it's still too loud). I'm not sure an external mic would help so much there even if I tried a couple
Thanks for this. I have ETM-001, which has a TRS jack, and you used an elbow connector with a TRRS jack. Were you registering both R/L audio channels on the in camera monitor with the ETM?
@@MehmetKaban The camera output is TRS, so you need a mic jack that is TRS (tip has two black bands separating the Tip Ring Sleeve connectors on the jack. TRRS has 3 black bands separating silver Tip Ring Ring Sleeve on the jack tip. So if RODE jack has the 3 black bands then you need the Rode SC4 TRS to TRRS adapter.
Jandal The input for the camera is TRS so you will need a mic which has a TRS input jack. No conversion needed if your mic has TRS plug input. If the mic has a TRRS plug, it will not work.
I feel like the sound that comes out of my Video Mic Pro Plus for example on my Nikon D850 sounds SO much better and different than when on the Sony RX100VII and not sure why? Yeah the action sounds pretty good! lol The Saramonic sucks too. The audio levels sounded low on the first mic to me....curious to finish watching the rest. Why didn't you put the actual mic as opposed to D and E etc.!? lol Confusing.
12:20 I totally AGREE 💯 Great point. I buy Sony's extra bass speakers 1000m3 headphone and earbud, Playstation im getting rx100 7 cam you have a point here put that camera tech on their Xperia phone.
Big donkey. Love it. Super awkward filming and talking to yourself. Just know that videos like this help a lot of us. So thank you for suffering through the embarrassment!!
Thanks for doing this. I have the Saramonic and it’s awesome and now I know how awesome it is.

D was the best. Did not expect it is going to be that small one. did you get ETM-001 TRS or TRRS?
Sorry. ETM-001
I bought a SmallRig for my RX100 M7 and it has 2 cold shoes that are awesome! And a grip! Highly recommend!!
Pine & Meadow Darlings the camera is fun to work with.

Hi I’m subscribed. What number audio do ya change it to in settings? Maybe you can do a video.
JVC Photography depends on the mic but I have mine set to 4 for the saramonic.
Scott's Reviews ok I set it to one and did a test with my ac noise. Sounded clear so far.
ETM-001 Sound the best!!!
For me, the Rode Videomicro sounded best outdoors. Indoors, the Sony, the knockoff and the Rode sounded best.
The 'hot' one had too much sibilance.
focus fail on sony rx100(7) ?
