Its really a waste of time and material. Those clips are loose to make everything line up easier. When the panel hangs from the top of the door shell and is bolted down, none of them door panel clips are going to move.
This video is extremely helpful! I've replaced speakers before and done sound-deadening (dynomat) on several cars already, but your tips to derattle the doors are great. Especially the electrical tape trick - I've never seen or heard about that. Its way easier than dynomatting the entire door - which is a complete pain in the ass and IMO not worth the trouble.
Bought these speakers used off someone for a great deal both mids and tweeters shipped for 200. The guy who shipped it didn't package them well and some of the plastic where the screws go broke. Luckily I had strong adhesive to glue them back together. Used your install video to install them. They are night and day difference, can actually put the music up loup without distortion. The clarion stock head unit and no amp are the only things holding it back now. Plus no sub. Not going to get the kicker sub because it's seriously overpriced, unless I can find it for cheap. I have a jl w3 in my garage so may just throw that in there. Thanks for your video it definitely made the install process super easy. I did all speakers in about an hour.
Jezus!!! The taping tip with all the clips would improve the sound quality of the stock speakers alone! My stock system rattles so much I’m checking the passenger door to see if I somehow forgot that I put a can of 37 bolts in the bottle holder
Huge help - thank you for this! I've been driving an old 1992 Nissan Maxima SE for 10 years. It came with a fantastic Bose system installed standard. I'm surprised by how underwhelming the 2020 WRX sound system is - and the rattles from the driver's side door are driving me crazy! Just ordered the Kicker door speakers and some Noico sound deadening sheets.
Very informative. thank you. You put a lot of time and care into these tutorials, ur going to get a lot of subs in the near future real recognize real, and ur legit bro. Keep up the good work
Really appreciate the time you took to make these videos. This is the best How to Video I've seen. Keep up the great work! Subbed and excited to see what new things you decide to do with the WRX!
Great door card clip tip with tape. I need to do this on my SJ XT along with investigate a possible blown OEM front speaker. And wow I didn't realize how cheaply made the OEM standard speakers are.
Thanks. Stepping from a Toyota with a Clarion system to my WRX was jarring. It sounds so muddy. I am surprised by how bad it is. Glad to know it's fixable.
Thank you for making this tutorial. You answered all the questions I had about installing my Kicker speakers. Plus, the tips you gave were great, very helpful and nicely done!!!
I just bought a new 2021 wrx that has stock speakers and was wondering if the installation would be the same. There isn't much info on them yet since they just came out last month and this is my first new car and wrx so I didn't want to break anything.
I traded in my 2015 Civic Si (I loved everything minus the FWD), I had Kicker KS and JBL sub in it....it does appear that Honda gives you far better sound than Subaru, I loved how it sounded. I was going to get Kicker KSs for my WRX, I already got the Kicker tweeter upgrades and want to get the same JBL 12" sub, however do you think these Kickers are similar?
i have to say the Harmon kardon are nice but also through radio the speaker sound isnt the best unless your streaming it or bluetoothing music. would it sound better with the 4 channel amp with the Harmon kardon?
Hey I already got the kicker installer and a sound ordinance underseat subwoofer installed in my WRX. What subwoofer and/or amp you're thinking about putting your WRX?
SO do you think the upgrade to the tweeter kit and speakers by kicker from the Subaru website would be enough to improve the sound? I ordered my WRX on Sept 9th and it should be arriving sometime in Oct. I want to have my dealer install them once my WRX arrives. I'm not a gear head so I can't install them myself and I'm not down with having them installed aftermarket. I'm a little confused from your review. Thanks
Those speakers were just just the stock Subaru speakers that you took out right? I have the Harman kardon in my sti. The kicker would not be an upgrade from that would it?
Boost & Shutter - Ah, i figured as much. It’s a 2017 with 28k miles. Noico material will be here Wednesday. I’ll try doing it at night time if it’s not too warm here in NY. It’ll be in the 60s so I don’t see it being *too* hard to take off. Thanks man.
Does anyone know what ohm the speakers and tweeters are (kicker upgrade)? i found out today my stock 2018 wrx tweeters are 6ohm. I’m hoping the HU can handle 4ohm since most speakers are 4.
AJ Alvarez you are correct that the stock tweeters are 6 Ohms. They are paralleled with the 4 Ohm door speakers. This presents a 2.4 Ohm load to the stock head unit.
Boost & Shutter I test drove one with a H/K system, I thought it would have been sufficient for just enjoying my music, now I bought a trim without, so I am going wire all new speakers in. Did you happen to run ALL new speaker wire, or did you keep the stock speaker wire? Also did you buy a harness that retained your Bluetooth connectivity and steering wheel controls?
Installed these speakers and now the car wont start. Everything lit up, but it wouldnt try to start. I tried to jump it, but now only the dash lights come on. Anyone else have this issue?
You mightve drained the battery when installing the speakers. It will throw a P0606 code. You may experience limp mode as well. Just reset the ecu and let it run for 10-15 mins. This is in our service bulletin.
@@skrapnrex4468 Why and how would this happen from simply changing the speakers with the car off (and not in accessory mode)? Kind of baffling and making me hesitant to do this install myself.
@@SaoGage Hi. If youre just changing the speakers then youre totally fine, I did mine too. The thing is to make sure nothing is draining your battery aside from opened doors when working on anything. Happened to mine when I installed the rear diffuser with the music and the car just on accessory.
I like the electrical tape tip. Very informative.
Its really a waste of time and material. Those clips are loose to make everything line up easier. When the panel hangs from the top of the door shell and is bolted down, none of them door panel clips are going to move.
I installed these same speakers in my 2015 Crosstrek and you're right about how easy they are to install. The quality is night and day. Great video.

Thanks for the video. Did the exact same thing on a new Crosstrek. (Except for high quality electrical tape). Perfect.

A man of inventions. We call it jugaad in India.
haha
Great tips!! I'll definitely be using your advice when I I stall my speakers.
Good technique tip about the electrical tape. I do it to all my vehicles...hate it when those plastic clips rattle man.
Very helpful video. Loved the tip on using electrical tape on the retaining clips.

This is the exact same thing for my 15' crosstrek and helped a lot did the tape trick too and install took no more than 1 hour 30 min. Great video!

OUTSTANDING JOB ! I will keep all notes in mind for my 2009 Forester . would these speakers work with my car?
insanely helpful - thanks for putting in the effort. Idk if I’ll use any of your other content, but liked and subbed anyway bruthur
Thanks!

an automatic WRX?
I just bought a new 2021 wrx that has stock speakers and was wondering if the installation would be the same. There isn't much info on them yet since they just came out last month and this is my first new car and wrx so I didn't want to break anything.
Lmfao thanks bro, I don't own a WRX but I enjoyed watching it.
Great videos and channel. Why did you decide not to install the Alpine mini amp? I am thinking about doing that to my 2017 WRX Premium. Thanks.
Is it worth it to upgrade from these to the JL c1 650?

You need two amplifiers? Why not just have one more powerful amplifier with more channels?
Hey I already got the kicker installer and a sound ordinance underseat subwoofer installed in my WRX. What subwoofer and/or amp you're thinking about putting your WRX?
Do you need an amp to run just the 4 speakers no subwoofer to stock 2021 STI
You do not need an amp, although an in-line amp DOES make them sound much better.

Sick video man some great ideas
What size are the door speakers? I'm looking to upgrade the speakers but may pick a different band other than the Kickers.

Detailing With Drew can you provide a link to purchase HK speakers instead of these?
Awsome man I’ll get it for my car
Would know if they ship to Australia
Same with the 2018 Crosstrek? Installation wise
did you get some rubber washers with the kit? What are they for?
Not hating but was that an automatic trans I spotted in the car?
how does that power pack hold? without running a fuse form the battery
Hey imma bit confused were you using the door speakers without the alpine power pack for awhile? If so was it much of an improvement from the stock?
Boost & Shutter thanks man I️ have everything you’re running except the sub and amp I️ may put a sub in later down the line any suggestions?
Unfortunately i cant find these speakers here in Malaysia.
very thorough
How did you go about resealing the vapor barrier to the door frame? Thanks

What’s the KS Model number
