  • This is the 2009 movie Gifted Hands, which tells a true story. In the United States in the 1990s, a black man who suffered from discrimination worked hard in a world dominated by whites and becomes a neurosurgeon. There is courage and rationality in this man named Ben Carson, and we should all learn from him. The character is played by Cuba Gooding Jr. Although he doesn't use his fists throughout the film, his frown still contains a burst of tension. Before we continue, don't forget to subscribe to our channel. We will bring you more interesting and exciting movie recaps.

I read this book. Gifted hands while in primary school. My story quiet related to his as i was not a good performer then and teachers always called me stupid. My dad too. Its only my mom who always encouraged me to keep going and said that I am very bright and she believed in me...Not for long though. My mom passed away when I was in class four. It was very hard moment.... I continued to believe in what my mom would tell me and now 15 years later I am almost there. Am now persuing medicine and graduating next year. I know my mom would be proud😌

Dr. Carson performed a surgery on my son. Regardless of all the issues that surrounded the surgery my son is now in EXCELLENT health. Dr. Carson was patient with my family and treated my son like a uncle whenever he walked into the room. We were the first patient family he told about retiring and going into politics. We are so glad and God definitely blessed his hands.

I was told "at least you're pretty" by every adult in my life. I was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age and was in classes for children with conditions. I was bullied but all verbal nothing physical, so I was able to mostly ignore it. I originally majored in art in college. Now after learning I can learn, I am accepted into physician assistant/ associate school. If you told me this back in high school I would have laughed in your face, I thought I was only capable of being a housewife and drawing well. Now my art can knock your socks off and I got a white coat in my future place of work.

I once had a bad breathing problem. I was scared. I went to many doctors and hospitals. X rays were taken and tests. They couldn't tell me why my breathing was shallow. They told me it was all psychological. I was give prescription medicine but nothing helped. There were times when I had to call paramedics a few times. The fear just made it worst for me. Then I remembered about a clinic that i been before this problem but never felt confortable going there because it was in a poor side of town and was visited by many low income minorities like myself. I returned there out of desperation and as my last hope. I was really scared this time. I felt that i was going to have a heart attack. I waited in the emergengy room for minutes until they called me. I nurse took me in and I told her what was happening to me so she rushed me to a gurney. Her fast re-action got me even more nervous as she ran to get me a pill. Nitroglycerine. She placed it under my tongue. Then i was x-rayed. As I waited, for the x ray results, I began to pray. I felt that i was going to have a massive heart attack and die there. I was ready to die when this black doctor came in and told me to relax. That all i had was gerd and that he was going to prescribe me a purple pill that would take it away. I felt a tremendous relief thanking God for sending me this black doctor. After a few days I began to breath normally. Of all the doctors, clinics and hospitals, he was the only one who had no trouble finding out what my illness was. A doctor from a small clinic in a poor community. A ghetto.

I was with you until the Ghetto comment, I don't believe in the word Ghetto (Its either poor, middle, or rich class neighborhoods/ places) just because the doctor is black and is in a small town doesn't make it Ghetto or should I just say because he's black doesn't make him Ghetto as well. So many ppl corolate black ppl with the Ghetto term when in reality if you just want to be frank with it any race can be Ghetto or are Ghetto (for those who use that term) ...... so even though your story was nice I would hv used different wording in this case.

I learnt how people who sigh or take deep breaths seem to have the most shallow breathing after a while, as their lungs get used to breathing like that. If you feel that same shallow breathing, try to practise nasal breathing without making the inhale and exhale too fast or too deep. This is the most ideal method of fixing bad breathing problems. So when you feel like you want to sigh or take a deep breath, just ignore that feeling as it is purely responsible for troubled breathing.
But I do think that the Doctor is a good person for knowing how to take care of patients efficiently.

This story is somewhat similar to mine. I wasn't a bright student during my elementary school days despite my father's effort in helping me to learn. My performance at school was consistently very poor and my teachers and fellow students would call me dumb. In middle school, I realized I had an eye defect (shortsightedness), which was the reason for my poor academic performance all the while. I thought that was how everybody's eyes were lol. My life changed for good when I got my first pair of glasses and my confidence shot through the roof. I could see the board clearer and my grades improved drastically. I went on to win several awards in high school and even represented my school at different competitions. Today, I'm working on my doctorate degree in Organic Chemistry and would be graduating in the Spring of 2023. Parents, always have your children's eyes checked regularly.

I personally felt "betrayed" and decided not to vote for him. I know he had to say something negative in that realm to "serve" the right wingers, but to me he became a fraud. This is a great black man. I bought his books for my children. In 1994 we had siamese twins born here in Polokwane in South Africa. They had to be moved to a hospital in Pretoria at Ga-Rankuwa to be operated by our famous neurosurgeon Dr Sam Mokgokong. Dr Mokgokong had to request assistance from Dr Ben Curson in the USA. It was gonna be way too expensive to perfom operation in the US. Dr Curson had to fly into South Africa and join Dr Mokgokong. Dr Curson performed his role bro bono. Our government only covered his expenses. Shout out to this hero of African people!

Our society though thinks what is best though for our children however his mother had so much faith in our God which we all need in this world. It was difficult for me also being a single mother but today God all along has given me in all ways provision. John L. Hopkins is such a great hospital. My sister in law had MS and visited couple times of the year. God bless all our Drs.,nurses & those that work in the medical field. I just wish I could go back and console the 15-16 yr old me crying cos he got bad grades and a scolding from his teachers and parents and got mocked by his mates & tell him…wait, hold on, keep trying, things get better, trust me.
