Heritage walk to Ghalib's Haveli in Old Delhi || Sandeep Mehta

Ghalib ki Haveli in Ballimaran, Chandni Chowk is a Mughal-era structure that is nearly 300 years old. The haveli was gifted to Ghalib by a local hakim, an ardent admirer of the poet. It is here that Ghalib spent the last 10 years of his life, before he passed away in February 1869.
With old lakhori stone work and creaking giant doors, the interiors of the haveli are lovely, if a bit fusty. As you walk through the doors, a bust of Mirza Ghalib smoking his hukkah greets you into his home. There are a few of his original manuscripts on display, with his poetry quilled in beautiful script (with handy translations alongside). Also on display are some clothes that belonged to Ghalib and his wife-helpful reminders of the people who lived within these walls a few hundred years ago.
