Ammy is awesome, every cutscene she does something awesome. Pinning down Issun's ego, falling asleep during the solemn explanation. I feel that Cry's lighthearted yet smart style is the perfect match for the character.

I just came back to this and I think I just realised something, the reason that Ammy never just did the stuff where you slice when Susano attacks stuff by herself, is probably because Susano is actually performing a combined attack thing but he just doesn't know it, which would make sense because of the fact that in the battle with Orochi, you can only slice the heads off with Susano's help, so you combine his slash with your brush technique, which is even more powerful.
Fact of the day: Nippon (Knee-pohn) is the traditional name for Japan (if you didn't get that from the map). Since this game is all about traditional Japan, it only makes sense that they would use the traditional name.

Cry, remember that enemies that lose color are vulnerable to the brush. If the sitar players defend and go colorless, power slash breaks their guard. Different enemies are weak to different brush techniques. Also, the first attack after they are out of HP determines if you get a demon fang or not, different enemies require different brush techniques to drop the fangs.
Oh! And running away in battle can effect you badly so NO RUNNING. Fight! And be careful because the enemies get tougher and faster the more you move forward.
It's not that bad .__. You lose a godhood level, sure, but traveler charms and entering other battles rejuvenates godhood. I've played the game multiple times with multiple times of running from an inconvenient battle without consequence.
Devilsinspiration I played the game too, dude. I am giving some of my advice from my experience with the game before it went bad on the disk. And how you play the game is great, I won't say anything about it because it's your business and it's how you play.

Sure, the disc would skip/slow but my copy is both used and my PS2 been abused. Since the HD version is download only, there shouldn't be issues with any slowing.

I lived and breathed this game when I was 17, its so nice to watch someone experiencing it for the first time. Definitely going to marathon this when the playthrough is complete :)
Cry, you should go to people's houses at night time. It's different, and some give you tons of food to fill your Astral Pouch owo. Also (way later) there's a quest where you have to go in a house at night. Loving this Okami series!
I don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet, but now that you have the bloom technique, you can "heal" the tress that throw fruit at you. First, you stun them by throwing the fruit back, and now that they're stunned, you draw a circle around them and they bloom into apple trees :3 (And now you can bring back all of the cherry blossom trees as well)
I really hope you will finish this LP, although Okami really is a long game, especially if you go for the numerous sidequests and everything. But it is a great game and totally worth every minute you spend playing it. :) Just hoping you enjoy playing it as much as we enjoy watching you play!

God I love this game. I've always loved Japanese culture and the game is amazing at incorporating Japanese folklore and legends. The characters are believable and are allowed room to grow and develop. And the art style. Is. Amazing. I mean, seriously, look at how they animated the sapling's affects! This game doesn't get enough coverage although it's been getting more popular recently. And no Cry, Nameless Man isn't a cannibal; that comes later on~ Quick tip, just slice the sitars when the imps go grey, that destroys the instruments.

If you hold X on the painting screen, it moves the brush faster. I always held Square and X at the same time to help me quickly paint straighter lines and good circles.

Something to remember about the Bloom technique is to try drawing a circle starting from the ribbon and around the branches; that seems to work the best. It actually took me a while to figure that out on my own.
Hey Cry, just saying for the Red Imps (the guys with the lutes), you can finish them off a lot quicker. Whenever they raise their instruments as a shield and turn gray, you can use Power Slash to cut the strings, so the lute disappears. But yknow, you're the one who's playing the game, so freedom to you, man.
this game is so beautiful and amusing and when u add Cry's commentary its like the gods cry cause they couldnt even paint something as beautiful as this combination and i must sound high o3o
I like how the scenes with Susano and the rocks show, that even Amaterasu is dependent on the strength of others, since she alone could never have sliced those boulders on her own. And it shows soon, that Susano is not just some weakling.
A triumvirate is a form of government where three people share power. I know it's a bit old now, but I still love that game to pieces and I love the way you play xD
I can't wait till Cry notices that some people who get hearts over there heads will pet Ammy if she stands still near them, like Kushi. I dunno why, but that was just one of the most adorable things to me. X)
Tip Time 2! Kushi pets Ammy if you just walk up to her and don't do anything. Use the Bloom brush technique on those evil trees when you stun them. Use the Bloom brush technique on people. And start bloomin' those trees. You can sell the treasures you picked up (like the Vases and Glass Beads etc) for extra cash. When you enter battle, most times you can see lights shining on the walls of the arena. If you ever need to escape, continuously whack at one of those until it breaks. The arenas with the reddish walls and japanese characters, you can't escape from. If you press Triangle really hard, you can draw lines thicker than what Square can do.

The divine intervention scenes are so beautiful to watch along with the soundtrack, one of the main reasons i love this game
By God; the dialogue noise in this game makes Animal Crossings sound more appealing.

If you hold X on the painting screen, it moves the brush faster. I always held Square and X at the same time to help me quickly paint straighter lines and good circles.

Something to remember about the Bloom technique is to try drawing a circle starting from the ribbon and around the branches; that seems to work the best. It actually took me a while to figure that out on my own.
Hey Cry, just saying for the Red Imps (the guys with the lutes), you can finish them off a lot quicker. Whenever they raise their instruments as a shield and turn gray, you can use Power Slash to cut the strings, so the lute disappears. But yknow, you're the one who's playing the game, so freedom to you, man.
this game is so beautiful and amusing and when u add Cry's commentary its like the gods cry cause they couldnt even paint something as beautiful as this combination and i must sound high o3o
I like how the scenes with Susano and the rocks show, that even Amaterasu is dependent on the strength of others, since she alone could never have sliced those boulders on her own.
And it shows soon, that Susano is not just some weakling.
This is a really beautiful game. I've always loved the art style of it all.....

Kushi pets Ammy if you just walk up to her and don't do anything.
Use the Bloom brush technique on those evil trees when you stun them.
Use the Bloom brush technique on people.
And start bloomin' those trees.
You can sell the treasures you picked up (like the Vases and Glass Beads etc) for extra cash.
When you enter battle, most times you can see lights shining on the walls of the arena. If you ever need to escape, continuously whack at one of those until it breaks. The arenas with the reddish walls and japanese characters, you can't escape from.
If you press Triangle really hard, you can draw lines thicker than what Square can do.
I am still looking forward to you finishing this magnificent game. I beat it alot on the PS2!
