I think what I've learned is that even the most healthiest and long-lasting couples have disagreements, arguments, and have to reflect and talk it out. Everyone's description of a healthy relationship is different.
My description is listening to each other, having open communication, saying how you feel, and most importantly, compromising with each other and allowing room for freedom of choice and independent (solo) experiences outside of the relationship ect friends,family, work, hobbies.
Have I seen healthy couples? Yes, i have. One thing I noticed about long lasting relationships is each couple tailored the relationship dynamics to fit the needs of both individuals, because their needs were different,so the dynamics and structure of every long lasting relationships looked different and was not one in the same.
They understood each other ,compromised, and offered unconditional positive regard. There is no one size fits all to have long-lasting, healthy, and fulfilling partnerships. It takes a lot of emotional awareness and understanding to Tailor the relationship to the needs of both individuals.
I have seen these relationships and know they are real and possible. We may think it's all candy canes, unicorns, and rose coloured glasses thinking, but it's not. It's more realistic and possible than others comprehend. But it's important to recognise and understand the limits of a relationship.. There are healthy boundaries that are necessary to the foundation of the partnerships.
