¡Bravo, maestro Pepe Romero! ¡Bravo, Moreno-Torroba!
Love how Maestro’s planting of the right hand propels the zarzuela inspired melodies, overall rhythm, and precision of his technique. Beautiful Rodriguez guitar sound...
Great to hear observations made about these magical songs. Keep the tradition of the Spanish / Classical guitar alive by sharing / posting more vids like this. Luv from London - Steve
Sensitively, exquisitely composed and played. I like also seeing and hearing Sr. Romero talk about the piece. Getting this other impression of him enriches the performance. Thank you for uploading.
Fantastic Player - I saw Pepe close to 20 years ago on a special tour with Paco Pena, Joe Pass and Leo Kotke. Paco was great but Pepe ultimately stole the show. I was in tears - that's how good he was!
MrDizzyvonclutch you piece of shit. look at nowadays tendencies you foul. when a great artist put out a great album it share it for free on youtube for marketing. the quality on youtube is not great for a real music lover (like me for example spending like 1000 Euro on a pair of headphones).. is just informative you old nobody. Who wants the album buys the vinyl or the CD.. or downloads it in FLAC or WAV format (format with no losses)..The real money are made in live concerts, all kind of contracts. I'm the dumb ass? You are an old dumb stupid fuck who don't know how things are made nowadays in the music biz so shut the fuck up.. you are pathetic..
There is always a mr. politically correct Mr. Dizzyvonclutch out there. They always pretend they are so concerned with the welfare of the artist, when in fact they are usually entirely self serving , out only to bully and prove their pseudo intellectual nous! A product of pathetic modern world! Well spoken Mr. Oskar Dirlewanger (where do they get these names?). He is an old nobody, out to prove he's a "somebody"
Both of you make fair points. MrDizzyvonclutch is completely right. However, this clip is probably ripped from a copyrighted old DVD and is usually impractical for average music lovers to buy. So I agree that in this case it shouldn't be involved in copyright issues. But copyright should protect most of music and art, which is an artist or musician's work and career.
Just watched Anna Vidovich play this, the difference in interpretations is amazing. It's hard to believe that two people play the same piece so differently. Love both though
This is a great video! THANKS for giving it to us all! It almost covered my question I posed when I searched “what is the meaning behind Torroba’s Suite Castellana?”.
Do you mean on the sides? it's only one piece of wood, Rio rosewood, with two colours(dark brown and yellow). Rodriguez was famous for this special selection of R. rosewood that he used on is best guitar called "churchdoor".
K Boudreaux looking at the rosette, headstock and solera, I'd guess that's a guitar by Miguel Rodriguez with top of Western Red Cedar, back and sides of highly figured Brazilian Rosewood. The back and sides are just solid wood, not 2 types
Yes his performance would sound much better if it was not a recording and thus a great deal of the sound is lost to us. This is the nature of an instrument that has fantastic sympathetic resonance resources. Unfortunately those who cannot tune instrument or have ever actually played one usually miss this point. For instance tone deaf piano wankers have a tendency to think that everything needs compensated temperament to be in tune and their ears and musical mind is set this way. Pepe like all great guitarists can change the temperament of the instrument with the touch of the left hand as he plays so the tuning is not constant the way a keyboard instrument is. In fact a good guitar can tune slightly differently every day and still sound great in the hands of a great guitarist.

Impressive great master of guitar. Wunderful expression. He and Goran Krivokapic. are the masters of this instrument
The best interpretation of this suite by Torroba I have ever heard! I fully agree with Rolando Navarro! BRAVO!
Love how Maestro’s planting of the right hand propels the zarzuela inspired melodies, overall rhythm, and precision of his technique. Beautiful Rodriguez guitar sound...
I so love this music. Pepe is such a master. And oh the tone of that guitar ....so beautiful.
Great to hear observations made about these magical songs. Keep the tradition of the Spanish / Classical guitar alive by sharing / posting more vids like this. Luv from London - Steve
Totally agree not enough said many of us just study solamente.
How beautiful the music and artist.
Thank you for the post-John

Muy bello. No conocia ese poema. La fecha lo dice todo. Gracias por compartirlo. Saludos cordiales.
I too saw that guitar summit. Great concert.Pepe is one of the best virtuosos around.
One of greatest pieces ever written for guitar! Exquisite!
Sensitively, exquisitely composed and played. I like also seeing and hearing Sr. Romero talk about the piece. Getting this other impression of him enriches the performance. Thank you for uploading.

Gosh that's a tour
Wow! The guitar trinity!!!
No problems with the copyright.. such things should never take down for legal issues.. this is art.. and art must be free .. for people to enjoy.
good way to kill a great art, make it even more dificult for the artist to make a living! dumb ass!

One of the greatest guitarist's of are time
speechless - only wonderful, thank you for uploading !!!
bravo maestro romero
Just watched Anna Vidovich play this, the difference in interpretations is amazing. It's hard to believe that two people play the same piece so differently. Love both though
M° Romero doesn't play the print mistakes. She does...
In the Segovia addition? In the first movement?
Exquisite playing with a lot of atmosphere.
WoW! Bravo!!
wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a great video! THANKS for giving it to us all! It almost covered my question I posed when I searched “what is the meaning behind Torroba’s Suite Castellana?”.
What beauty
amazing guitar and playing of course, what's with the two toned wood? different types?
c/br
Do you mean on the sides? it's only one piece of wood, Rio rosewood, with two colours(dark brown and yellow). Rodriguez was famous for this special selection of R. rosewood that he used on is best guitar called "churchdoor".
The sides are rosewood the different colors are caused by the lighter color of the sapwood part of the board.....
K Boudreaux looking at the rosette, headstock and solera, I'd guess that's a guitar by Miguel Rodriguez with top of Western Red Cedar, back and sides of highly figured Brazilian Rosewood. The back and sides are just solid wood, not 2 types
ME GUSTARÍA SABER CON QUÉ GUITARRA ESTÁ TOCANDO.
Zazuela ? So picturesque? Played for the people? How I say in Spanish. Patriotic composer who painted a picture for the people. Pls help
5:40 the lick!
A different interpretation. I like it, but he delays some notes too much. It's amazing anyway.
Agree about the delayed notes. He's a competent player. Stylistically a bit stiff.
Yeah, Danza really suffers from delaying too much. I think it sounds a lot better when it's rhytmically precise.

Why there are 10 dislikes in this clip...?
Sadly they list there hearing
What DVD is this from?
is this the Herman Hauser guitar?
It's a Miguel Rodriguez. Headstock and rosette are the telltale details.
buzz kirschner This Guitar is "The Wonderfull" Manuel Rodriguez
just the sound of the guitar,,,,no spin
my old guitar teacher married his daughter I think
Yes I have run into them at various classical guitar events in L.A. his daughter and husband are very nice people and
walking encyclopedia of guitar.
Café con leche in plaza mayor
Is being slightly out of tune supposed to make it sound more authentic? Perhaps it sounded better in the room...
Yes his performance would sound much better if it was not a recording and thus a great deal of the sound is lost to us. This is the nature of an instrument that has fantastic sympathetic resonance resources. Unfortunately those who cannot tune instrument or have ever actually played one usually miss this point. the rubato killed the first movement
Watching a pepe Romero video without rubato is like watching Van Halen lol. Not everyone plays like John Williams or David Russell.
*Van Halen without tapping
"I don't lke it,so it's bad."LOL,grow a brain then try to understand the real world around you moron.
obnoxious style of play... segovia plays this the true way. direct and simple.
This guy loves to talk.
It’s a good thing we love listening to him more!
He plays like a rookie.
Please share with us your interpretation of the piece! Which i'm sure you should pay us for having our ears tortured by your "expertise'! HA!
MrDizzyvonclutch I would have to agree with pierre, I prefer David Russel's interpretation.
I make subjective judgments on the quality of fine art and share them publicly.
MrDizzyvonclutch l believe, you get money to post this kind of comments.
toobian2 exactly, SO WE CAN ALL GET A GOOD HEARTY LAUGH AT HOW GODDAMNED PATHETIC THEY ALL ARE!!! HA!!
POR FAVOR. LOS COMENTARIOS GUÁDATELOS PORQUE TU INGLÉS ES UNA PENA Y YO LO QUE EUIERO ES OIR LA MÚSICA Y ENCIMA INSISTES. LA FASTIDIASTE. YA NO PUEDO COMPARTIRLO
QUÉ MANÍA TENEIS ALGUNOS DE HABLAR Y HABLAR. NADIE ESPERA OIR GRAZNAR UN CUERVO CUANDO LO QUE LE OFRECEN ES MÚSICA.
