Hmm what about punctures? Is the self-inflating mattress a better choice for a rocky terrain?

In my experience most top end mats are incredibly robust and punctures are unlikely. However, if you are particularly concerned then a self inflating does provide slightly more security because it offer a small amount of comfort and insulation deflated
