Let's Play: Crash Nitro Kart (Longplay)

- Yet another Crash Bandicoot game from the "Dark Ages" where everything went wrong in this franchise. CNK takes off heavily from the critically acclaimed Crash Team Racing, to which while that game was good, this game for whatever reason falls flat. The controls do feel heavy, but they can be gotten used to. Some of the modes, CNK Races and Crystal Stages can be tedious, but they aren't required to complete the game. There are other racing games that I'd sooner play, but CNK isn't that bad of a racer, I love it, and its definitely something I'd look back to. Also, MK8 totally took off on this game. Argue all you want about how Nintendo coined antigravity racing with F-Zero, but they literally ripped off this game with the whole wheels turning sideways to drive on the walls gig. But we'll get to that game in due time.
It's funny how as a kid you remember these games having HD graphics and when you watch it back you're like "was that really how it was"
But it's still beautifull for it's time.
It was a huge improvement compared to Crash Team Racing ^^

Spiteful Crow I don't think anti-gravity flowed well in this game.... Mario Kart 8s anti grav sections are quite wide so they feel less awkward to drive on.

I liked it, but it's pretty underwhelming when you look back on it. Only 12 racetracks, restricted to 3 character choices in Story Mode, and the new characters were odd. I don't know who's looking forward to playing them in Nitro Fueled. I only liked the shark for how goofy he was.

There are some stuff of the hover kart that the didn’t steal, but I quest they ripped of the basic idea
Very few people know about it, cause CNK isn't exactly that well-remembered. But, yes, Nintendo did copy the idea of anti-gravity racing. That said, I don't think it matters. It's all about execution, which MK8 did well.

But yes, it’s true. Crash did it first.
This was like the first console game I ever played as a kid and probably the best (from what i had) and it's name just popped in my head after like, what, seven years? And now, I wish I still had my PS2 in working condition. I always used to play this with my older sister and always got mad when I lost. The track designs are satisfying and aesthetic, the music and the sound effects are memorable and nostalgic, the sound when you jump has engraved itself deep, deep inside my mind.

I wouldn't say EVERYTHING went wrong after Naughty Dog left. I mean we got characters well-liked by many fans such as Crunch & Nina, and N. Gin & N. Brio were hilariously written in Crash of the Titans & Mind Over Mutant.

the only complaint I have of this game by my favorite character is the loading pictures..would be nice if was something like in "wrath of cortex" something alive, moving around and with sound!..other than that I love this game..also, think I'm spoiled by the map on CTR😆

I do agree that MK8 ripped this off, but it kinda was an inspiration for me in that case. The items remain similar to Mario's. However collecting coins do not give power ups to items given, unlike the juices in Crash. The drifting is clearly different because in Crash's, you need to press the L1 button on the red gauge, while in Mario Kart, you can drift and automatically get boost if you hold it long enough and let go of the drift button. Also the hub world only exist in Crash's racing games. I was hoping Mario Kart would implement that in the future where we can free roam. Even so, the game in version of Wii U came out almost over a decade, which some newer generations may have missed out on Crash Nitro Kart if they didn't have a ps2 console. Probably inadvertently celebrating antigravity after 10 years of its passing.
Onto my playthrough, Velo was tough to beat when I played it on PS2. God, I beat him, and he took me on a rematch, going back through all the courses I've done to collect time relics! I may be a good racer but not expert at it on ps controller.
Critics saying that this was a downhill game for Crash, I doubt that. I mean, why would they say it is worse than the Crash Team Racing?
I still believe that this game is my childhood and that brought me to playing Mario Kart for the very first time.

I hate the people talking about how Mario Kart 8 "ripped off" the hover sections, as though once one game does something, no one else can... Now if Nintendo claims that they were the first ones to do it, then sure I understand, I guess. However, it's a pretty basic mechanic to hold back from everyone else. The way that I see it is that it doesn't matter, both games did it, who cares? In an argument you can say that CNK did the hover kart stuff first- However, it's pretty stupid to speak as though it's wrong for literally any other game to use it... After all it's really just the wheels turning sideways making the kart hover. Fuck, there's been other games that have used the kind of thing as well, of course it was still after CNK, but that's fine. Why that would be a point against MK8 is some stupid shit guys. Just enjoy your games without trying to find ways to hate on other franchises.

Hardc0reGamer92 I agree. The only aspect of CNK that's better than CTR is the graphics. Everything else is superior in CTR
The main reason why I hated this game is that compared to the first game (aka the original) the sense of speed you get when you hit a boost pad wasn’t there. Honestly going over the turbo boost pads in CNK felt like you were going slower when you went over them whereas in the first game you go over a boost pad and your speed felt as if it increased
I wish they added the story mode of this game into ctr nitro fuled :/
